I think you are reading something into my post that isn't there. You surely do not believe I am arguing that Python is a shell language without tradeoffs. Of the languages listed in GP, only Python and JavaScript are scripting language

One of these are not like the other. Python is perfectly serviceable as a shell, to the extent that one could largely replace bash with the Python REPL if they wanted.

My issue with the iPad is that it just does not have the fine-fidelity or response time of real ink, and it's not something that never fails. It's so frustrating to be so pregnant with an idea, to open ones iPad, and to find out t

For me, I scrolled, clicked, but the page hijacked my screen, moved its position by force, and I was not certain which pane I was on immediately. It broke my sense of continuity. I am only being literal when I say this, but as someone who i

FWIW I haven't had bad experiences on the Godot subreddit, but I haven't tried in three years since the API change. And AI seems laughably bad at Godot for any non-trivial questions, and for those trivial questions, it's bett

I think so too, but many people have many oppositions to AI and would prefer knowledge to be in the hands of knowledgeable community, rather than AI companies. SO was poised to be this alternative, but leadership showed they did not see val

The graph is not presenting a narrative, did you mean to reply to someone else who is presenting the "revisionist history"? In 2023, Stack Overflow had already started making unpopular pro-AI moderation decisions, and in 2024, the

With animations and transitions disabled, the OnePlus 3 is much faster to navigate through and do the same tasks than an iPhone 16 Pro. And I suspect the touchscreen digitizer is doing less hysteresis / debouncing / 'smart&#x

The OnePlus 3 was my first proper smartphone and the best phone I ever used. Running Lineage, it's faster and more responsive, even today, than a $1000 iPhone from 2024. The quality was amazing. It's a shame to have seen their slo

For what it's worth, this doesn't read as "snark" to me. There _are_ many direct critiques in this thread about X being caught uploading users home directories, and some are clearly snark. I understand that you read this

TUI is a lot better for me, and I have preferred it since the 00s, before LLM products were even a thing. For all the reasons there can be, one big reason is that it works on anything you can get a terminal on, you can use it over SSH, and
