I have a CoffeeScript fork (based on Michael Bolin's work) targeting Google Closure's Advanced mode here: https://github.com/lynaghk/coffee-script The motivating use case for me is that ClojureScript (the Clojure->JS compiler) is buil

This interview is from November 2011; ClojureScript tooling has improved since then. Evan Mezeske's lein cljsbuild plugin ( https://github.com/emezeske/lein-cljsbuild ) is a great place to start.

For anyone who's tempted to dive into my ClojureScript d3 wrapper ( https://github.com/lynaghk/cljs-d3 ), hold up---there just might be Clojure/ClojureScript-native data visualization library open sourced at Clojure/West...

SEEKING FREELANCER Remote or Portland, Oregon. http://keminglabs.com does interactive data visualization on the web via SVG + JavaScript. We use a lot of D3.js; formerly via CoffeeScript, now moving to ClojureScript. Backend tends to be R

It's not very fun, actually. I've been using Mirah (a simple Ruby-esque language with basic type inference that compiles to Java bytecode without a runtime dependency), so at least I don't have to write Java, but the Kindle framework itself

ClojureScript has compile-time only macros, but they are handy for repetitive (set!) calls as in your example. You might want to look at the (attr) macro in the cljs-d3 source: https://github.com/lynaghk/cljs-d3/blob/master/src/clj/cljs_..

There is a very good series of posts by Andrew Gelman (a statistician at Columbia) on the tension between statistical graphics (eminently clear at the risk of being boring) and information visualizations (captivating, colorful, and novel, b

I designed a very similar spaced-repetition algorithm flashcard learning app for the Kindle (screenshots here: http://keminglabs.com/#/kindle/ ). It's in Amazon's review process at the moment, but if you have a Kindle and want to test it

That's because D3 is minified and concatenated with the rest of our JavaScript on the page. jQuery is separate so that it will load from caches.

I run a small information visualization shop and we use Protovis & D3 exclusively for visualizations on the web. Bostock's work is the most useful and thoughtful visualization framework on any platform, and at this point the only reason

SEEKING WORK My specialty is data visualization and technical graphic design. I primarily use R (ggplot) and Protovis, and tie it together with LaTeX (for print/PDF) or HTML + JavaScript on the web. For data munging I use Ruby (for hacks),
