We are however constrained by the complexity of any purported solution. That's the bitter lesson, in a nutshell. At the very least, we know that sleep and dreaming do exist in biological brains. (Doesn't mean any of it is applicab

Great concise description of the problem. As for the solution, it seems to explicitly not address recovery of lost keys/identities, which is however exactly the part that makes this hard for regular users. That, and general name confus

What alternative is there, today, that would allow securely doing this without an app store dependency? Only a few EU countries have rolled out NFC-based eID functionality (as only physical ICAO-based ID verification via NFC is a mandatory

For me it's the opposite: I usually misremember 192.0.0.0/8 as being entirely private, so for 192.0.2.0/32, I usually assume that the example given is supposed to be a private v4 address/network.

Good point, and quite on topic given that this thing will have a SIM slot, so we're at at least three OSes and CPUs and counting :) The Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chipsets usually have their own CPU as well.

Today, I think so too, but I think they're onto something with the idea of a PTT-like local LLM interface. With 2-3 orders of magnitude more local inference power, I could really see this work out! "Hey Flipper, log onto Wi-Fi SSI

This was my first impression too, but it's actually quite simple: It's everything all at once. It's an incredibly ambitious plan, but buy would I be in the market (unironically!) for an offline, LLM-powered, voice-controlled,

Nowadays Plaid uses OAuth for many banks, but the real problem is and always has been that they get full access to your transaction data and pass it on to their users.

I want many payments to be pull-based (at least I'd go crazy having to positively sign off every utility bill and subscription), but the ideal user interface for pull payments shows who exactly is pulling what, with a few days notice,

They are everywhere. Default liability for online payments is and has always been with the merchant; only 3DS and some wallets can shift it to the issuer.

Of course not, since you can just install the Android app on your free software aftermarket OS. Surely banks wouldn't require hardware attestation or monitor your device for being rooted, would they? /s Irony aside, yeah, this is

Banks can settle with Visa and Mastercard in their currency of choice, so I don't see why the dollar matters for any of that. And regarding Visa and Mastercard being US payment networks: This is now undoubtedly the case, but for much o

If 3DS and chip + PIN card usage were ubiquitous, the value of a stolen card number and even card would be zero, and this entire problem would go away. Unfortunately, legacy deployments have just proven too pervasive to effect real change,
