Wayland doesn't fractionally scale chrome, discord, vscode, spotify, beeper, and other appimage and non-native applications. So even if KDE enables it by default, most users will have to switch back to X.

Well done! This has some great features people usually ask for, like performance and copy-paste, and the whole UI is super polished.

Why hasn't a non-crappy iot/smart hardware line and ecosystem emerged after years and years of "internet of shit" catastrophes such as this one? So many angry users are a market ripe for capturing, aren't they? Or m

Yes, GPT Vision / ChatGPT is very accurate. CogVLM is also very powerful as a self-hosted solution.

Very disappointing that this was the path Vercel chose to take. This is something I would expect from Google or Amazon, but not a developer darling like Vercel. Seems like all companies shed their values is service of growth and capitalism

Let me see if I can find existing benchmark results. My gut feeling is that GPT4 is better overall... But BakLLaVA model is just incredibly small for how powerful it is.

This is an awesome idea! Yeah refining and asking more questions about the image could make it viable. The BakLlava model is pretty impressive, but I do need to tune the prompts and the hyperparams as well. Or even do a small finetune. It’s

It’s been nothing short of “Jarvis”. You do have to ask things correctly to get correct answers, but it accelerates pretty much everything I do on a computer by a factor of 100.

Keep in mind, that new cars aren't bad simply because of all this new tech, but rather how this tech is exposed to the user. HCI seems to have disappeared by the wayside as we create more and more complicated systems. Yet it is possibl

I've been using https://snapdrop.net/ , and if it's not down it works great! I think it only needs to be up as a signaling server, right?

Before you jump into installing the extension for your A1111, keep in mind the limitations: - You have to "pre-bake" each model (create optimized engines) for only a pre-defined set of resolutions - ~~No LoRA support~~ I guess the

That's the thing. _good_ usability that benefits everyone is not always trivial. Or cheap. Having huge text everywhere or loud volume is not the same as having a good way to easily change text size or adjust the volume.

I agree with the premise, but why does this read like a tech bro and his finance/business major buddy in their early 20s got high and wrote it with the help of an LLM trained on /r/iam14andthisisdeep?

Don Norman's gripe applies not only to the elderly. I think good usability benefits everyone, and I do sympathise with him when it comes to the direction Apple has been taking for the past 10 years or so. I don't think it's a

What a weird point and conclusions. Yes, we shouldn't treat LLMs as search engines. But who's to say what's creativity and what's not? Glitch art is "wrong" if we apply the author's judgement, but it'

How does OpenOrca compare with Zephyr-7B? Both are fine-tuned mistral-7B's AFAIK. https://huggingface.co/HuggingFaceH4/zephyr-7b-alpha These LLMs are dropping so quickly it's hard to keep up these days!

uClinux has been my bread and butter back in 2010-2012 when I was running it on a mmu-less micro pfga core for an embedded industrial device. I think I brought it down way below the 789kb, at least the bzimage. I think I was using buildroot
