Why not just display the message and then allow users to use the app. Punishing the users of an app for the behaviour of the store, while attention grabbing and potentially impactful, seems a bit like chucking the baby out with the bathwate

The fact that people are discussing it, and so agitated by the use of the word "woman" shows, if anything, that they aren't equal and there is still much work to be done.

Spotify is available in Hong Kong, so not sure why it's not reflected on the map. As others have said there is QQ music (Tencent/Spotify) in the mainland.

This reminds me of a time at a games company one of the tasks we had to do was to fake the game running in a browser for a demo (this was around 2008) easy trick as you just had to change the render handle to any window handle and you were

Why are they bad for SEO? The author seemed to be talking more about CSS and JS rather than content - does not using bootstrap or ReactJS mark you down on search results?

Having seen the way people 'queue' when waiting outside an eatery implementing social distancing guidelines - this only solves part of the problem. Edit: Perhaps integrating it with some sort of QR Code based ticketing system for

I have lived to see both ends of the spectrum from "who wrote this, it's awful" and "wow, who wrote this it's beautiful" I wish I could see over time that the latter takes precedence, but I'm just happy th

As I get older, I more and more realise the negative health impacts of a mostly sedantry job - anything to offset that is surely in the interests of most HN readers

They assign tracking wristbands to everyone entering Hong Kong. I had one. Mine was just a paper band with a QR code on it - it was implied it had some form of RFID chip in it, although it was clear it didn't. The new ones are a larger

Being Scottish I learned at a young age how to tightly tie a football[1] scarf around my face to brace against the cold winter wind. There's also products such as the buff scarf. Which are ideally suited to use as an impromptu mask[2].
