The author isn't considering how lack of features can be useful. Just like the lack of gotos in a language allows you to make many assumptions about a program, Gemini lacks just about every mechanism for fingerprinting and tracking tha

Healthy foods are elitist ever since the masses started expecting everything to be sugary, so let's not eat healthy.

IIRC, hertzner "unlimited" traffic isn't quite unlimited. You have a few monthly TB depending on what you contracted, if you go over it there's massive speed reductions until you pay a fee.

I see no one arguing this here at all. Much on the contrary, I'd say piracy is a console emulators most common use. But it's still fine. All that matters is there's a possibility they're being used for good things. If so

Emulators do enable piracy. But so do computers, and it's not a valid argument against them by any means. It's perfectly legal and moral/ethical to use an emulator to play games in many circumstances.

Most americans use a fairly sweet everything. God even their barbecue is full of sugar. I have the impression the whole country is sugar addicted. I'm from a culture where mixing salty and sweet stuff is considered abhorrent (south ame

Do these phones run mainline distros e.g. Debian? I'm thinking about getting one just for occasional ssh. Even a tty with the keyboard addon would be fine. Regular phones these days are such massive spyware that I'm not even willi

The fact someone else did something is an absurd justification to do it as well. In a practical level, Xbox is much more locked in than Nintendo, as all Nintendo consoles have PC emulators for it and the devices can be jailbroken.

I'd suggest reading Susan Reynolds' Fiefs and Vassals. It's a very complex topic and not fit for this thread at all.

Feudalism is an entirely different beast and either didn't exist or had minor global presence throughout the whole period you listed. Even listing the ancient Achaemenid Empire for example would make more sense in this context.

Emacs is the best editor with kakoune keybinds, but I'm not letting you play Cunningham's law on me.

Just look around this thread for the issues people list with kakoune. I.e. hard to configure, window management, lack of IDE features, lightspeed/avy, localization, etc. All of them are trivially solved by using a kakoune layer on emac

>we disconnect the WebSocket consumers whenever a server is restarted for the update Isn't avoiding this the main selling point for BEAM? As in Erlang: the movie. Can't that be done with websockets?

Does it work like Erlang: The movie, though? I.e. change the code without losing any connection or state.

That's exactly what acceptance of failure sounds like to me. E.g. you abandon a chess game when you accept you'll lose. To just keep pushing for a situation you know is irredeemable is to deny you've failed.

Maybe that's why the "Un*x dogmatists" avoid adding functionality to mouse buttons. Middle click already has a great X11/Wayland feature and should stay that way.

You can't just blanket remap tab as it's overloaded for org-cycle, helm-select-action, expand in ido and so on.

Have you tried hooking self-insert-command to the modes you'd use it on? Like prog mode and fundamental. The only corner case I can think of is if you'd like to tab-insert in org-mode and also expand headings using tab. Edit: Try
