Not at all; once you declare an emergency, it's ATC's job to get everyone else out of your way . It's obviously better if you tell them what you're going to do, but that takes a backseat to actually handling the emergen

The leaning building across from my office, for example, has nothing to do with seismic issues but basic design/engineering/construction flaws You say that, and then you claim that seismic engineering is free from such flaws? Th

Talking to ATC is far down on your priority list in emergencies. First priorities are to fly the airplane, figure out what's wrong, decide on a course of action and head in the right direction. Only after all those things are done, sho

That sounds weird because I was just surprised to learn that here in Hawaii there are areas that don't have postal delivery. Not a "put the mailbox out on the highway" kind, but the "we don't go there, get a PO box&

Everyone has things they need to get done in their life that they don't enjoy. I don't think learning to be more effective at getting them done quickly so you can spend more time doing what you enjoy is a bad thing. Personally, I

I feel similarly. I've had basically all my data on ZFS/ZoL for 8 years at this point and have not had any problems except occasional system lockups when scrubbing. This has not happened for the last year or so. For a while it see

Presumably this would only apply in class A airspace above 18,000 MSL. No one hand-flies there anyway.

Am I being naive? I think so. The Space Shuttle was not incremental at all, it was supposed to be a great leap forward. I think calling Apollo incremental is also a stretch. They build a rocket that's still the largest the world has

All true. On the other hand, the current JWST is way less capable, and way, way more expensive, than what was initially planned. I think there's a very legitimate argument to be made that maybe, with hindsight, it would have been bette

Usually it is the law that you are only allowed to drive as fast as the conditions allow (e.g. CA's "Basic Speed Law".) That includes being able to see obstacles in your path early enough to be able to do something about them

Think of it this way: If the vaccine is, say, 30% effective, then a single person vaccinating themselves will bring their risk down by 30%. But if there are N people between that person and patient zero, and all those people are vaccinated,
