If you're on iOS, try https://apolloapp.io/ . Using it on an iPad has become my main way of accessing reddit. Super customizable, has keyboard shortcuts and supports pretty much all reddit features. The developer is als

Why not just use the Accept-Language header? stripe.com already does this – At least I get redirected to " https://stripe.com/en-de ", seemingly based on the combination of header and geolocation

Fair, but one significant advantage of having a specific legal form is that the way the organization is set up is immediately apparent from the legal name. This also means that any non-profit that is not set up as such will automatically be

It seems to me like this is a shortcoming of the English (and American) legal system, where non-profit organizations and such can only be founded as "regular" companies and then tax-exempted. This means they are still subject to a

For a while I had my laptop set up with a udev rule that would automatically lock it as soon as my USB Yubikey was unplugged. The Yubikey was on my keychain on a lanyard attached to my clothing. I mostly used that at CCC events where I was

There's no monopoly on credit cards though. There's multiple providers, some countries have their own (cheaper) debit card networks, and you can still pay with cash.

Personally I really like Wikipedia's preview feature. It makes it easy for me to decide if a link is worth following. The German language version does not have it, and whenever I use that one I quickly start to miss it.

As a C developer who has never really used C++ or Rust I sort of agree. Looking at Rust introductory guides I increasingly get the same feeling as looking at C++ things, where there's just _too much_ of everything. I know it's a s

Isn't that pretty much exactly what this accomplishes? It means sites first have to request your permission in a popup. I thought the article made it pretty clear that the heuristics are only intended as a temporary stop-gap measure to

Honest question: How is this relevant to Hacker News? As a non-American i was rather bewildered to find this here. Is there a serious overlap between gun enthusiasts and the IT community in the US?

I don't think you can make a blanket statement like this. My experience has been almost the opposite, Chrome always uses significantly more CPU for me. I think it really depends on hardware, drivers etc.
