Apps were just an excuse for Jobs to own the iPhone platform. It's why they killed Flash - they didn't want a cross-platform way to develop apps and marginalize their plans. This is nonsense as initially Apple was pushing web ap

Yes - that's the real problem, too many restrictions on what apps can and can't do. This is not something Apple should be able to do - this is itself anti-competitive, as of course Apple are able to do all of those things while co

You do no know that you can disable notifications on iOS right? Ever since they first added them. Apps should not die. They provide an infinitely better user experience, battery efficiency and many more capabilities. To the contrary, web ap

Installer.app was the first "App Store", before Cydia even existed, I wrote it. I spoke to Steve before they launched their App Store -- we were happy to see them open up the platform and provide an official SDK, which was our goa

So true. I’d love to have a modern macOS that is as streamlined and well thought out as OS 8/9 or a modern NeXTSTEP. Instead we have bloated, buggy, fugly operating systems that restrict what you can do more and more with every new ver

Anyone can do this easily, the API is super simple but the resulting VM isn’t all that useful. The title implies someone got it working without Apple’s closed source APIs. That is not the case.

If only we could get NeXT back... or Apple would build something as well designed, clean and productive. Give us a proper streamlined UI, not this over-spaced baby blur and give us proper APIs for everything. Security is good, but it needs

Not much of a point in running Linux on Apple hardware, macOS is still by far the better option here. Linux needs a lot of work to be able to compete with macOS.

SwiftUI is pretty and a pleasure to work with when you want to do something that is expected. The moment you need something more, SwiftUI is not your friend anymore. Too much is hidden away in internal implementation details and much of it

This is all true. Wish Apple wasn’t destroying macOS so much. Things used to be so much better in terms of user experience, clean APIs and features. Everything is over-policed, buggy and ugly now, especially in Big Sur. Apple’s attention to

To me this looks like the worst of both worlds. Poor UI choice, poor apps and loss of Linux hardware support. Sorry to be negative, but I just don't see where this fits.
