I'm not sure how Munich "proved it was possible". The user community disliked it so much they are now switching back. They proved that it cost the city a lot of money in the transition (both times), and those costs have not

Given the ESP8266 brings a WiFi radio and 32bit microcontroller for < $2 on your BOM I think this sort of overkill is warranted. 433mhz provides no mechanism for link-layer security which seems irresponsible in this day and age.

I'm also a fan of the Sonoff products for random use cases around the house. One thing I think should be noted - you no longer need to solder in a UART header to get your own firmware on Sonoff devices with the SonOTA project [1]. Th

KeePass can do two-channel obfuscation where it mixes both clipboard and keystrokes, but both of these things are trivial to intercept.

KeePass does the same thing by default, but all you've done is create a race condition. Clipboard changes can be picked up by any application that cares to listen.

So now all anyone needs to do is watch your clipboard? I'm not arguing your approach as I use Keepass in the same way, but I also know it'd be pretty straightforward to snarf my creds if you were able to watch my clipboard.
