Really cool! I did try One Sec, but actually setting up the shortcut to divert is quite tedious, and it only works at the point of opening the restricted app. I like the UI, just wondering if the 'Breathe' prompt will get old quit

Interesting - it reminds me of the ‘strange loopiness’ in Douglas Hofstadter’s books - we have a model of ‘I’ that reflects in on itself. We obviously have a huge evolutionary pressure for having a semi-accurate internal model of ourselves

It's hugely different - imagine the number of decisions a person makes when making an oil-painting - each stroke is somewhat influenced by past experience but also by the current state of the painting, their emotional state etc. The AI

Then the AI is performing a sort of collage of copyrighted work and the AI / prompt writer would not own the copyright to the derivative work. If a photographer stages a photo based on an existing photo, and it shares enough features w

This kind of 'training' is not at all equivalent. There's a reason copyright places value on the expression of an idea (i.e. taking the photo) - image-making is difficult and was a valuable skill, even for a stock photo.

Then with DALL-E it is like you are instructing a commissioned artist (who would own the copyright). I think it's fundamentally different to using a tool in Photoshop - content aware fill uses the rest of the image to fill in space, so

Yep, exactly - I think people generally regard artistic work as getting to a successful end result. When actually the process of creating something, and potentially wrecking something at any moment, is usually the most fun / exciting a

I don't think it's like any tool that has come before in that it can take much of the decision-making process away from the artist - it is much more like hiring someone to paint a picture than using Photoshop. For image-making, th

That’s true - not so much UVs, but texture coords I find are useful for quickly flipping the screen horizontally or vertically - so storing both a vertex position and a x,y value 0-1 for sampling a texture. I guess could just interpolate th

This is interesting, but also wouldn't the texture mapping / UVs be more confusing and possibly outweigh the benefit of micro-optimisation? The good thing about having 4 vertices is can just use a vertex position and set of textur

Quick video of a viscoelastic fluid sim I made that runs on iPad GPU - https://vimeo.com/779004024 . You can get really interesting mixing behaviour by varying the density of the particles - https://en.wikipedia.o

Sure, it can come from a boring, unoriginal place without any investment and it could be bad art. Work like that is just a waste of time for everyone. People wouldn't listen to music that was created with the same indifference, it woul

The Miyazaki quote really hit home: “I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.” I think most AI art misses the point entirely. Art is really about the person / people that make the work and their response to the time and c

Thanks! So, the first year or so (June 20 - Nov 21) was me building the first prototype - learning Figma, Swift and Metal etc. The grants ran from Nov 21 to Mar 22 - I eventually had a team of 3 really great devs working on building out th

Hey, thank you - it's strictly wellness at the moment, so only for people with no underlying breathing problems. Hopefully, we can develop it into a medical device for COPD + asthma fairly soon.

Thanks! Flutter does sound good, I've just started looking into it. Am I right in thinking we would rebuild the UIKit components / views in Flutter and then would be able to use the same UI across platforms (iOS, Android + Web)? A

I think here the tech is justified - it adds a few added incentives to do the exercises (visuals responding, progress tracking, showing lung function if possible) and can guide people through in a much more scaleable way than in-person

+1. I did add very subtle haptics (possibly too subtle) as the indicator changes, but I like the idea of making them stronger and recognisable for each breath phase
