Yep - it's now fully optional, I think probably just delete the old version and go through onboarding again (and select No Mic Access). You'll then get a sort of simulated breathing response, rather than the actual input.

Hahaha - we are adding in HRV & heart rate tracking - then I think we can officially call it 'biofeedback' :)

In general, Lungy is more an active form of meditation, so rather than closing your eyes and listening to guided instructions or following a timer, it relies on the combination of real-time feedback (showing your breathing with interactive

Ah was it based on SpiroSmart at all? It's a smartphone tech Google purchased in around 2017 [0]. Yep, it has been tricky to get over the line as a medical device and used in the NHS, hence the focus more on wellness initially. [0] ht

Are you able to access last year's: https://howtogrowalmostanything.notion.site/ Otherwise, look out in Jan / Feb next year for applications to be a 'committed listener'.

Working part-time on Lungy, the breathing app I developed whilst working as a doctor during COVID - https://www.lungy.app/ Also, very interested in synthetic biology atm, I’m taking HTGAA - https://www.media.mit.

Thanks for the link. Yep - exactly, they took a leap, but importantly didn't release a full product / package on the App Store, or charge for features. This falls much more into a grey area, but is clearly DIY, and demonstrates de

Hey, I'm a doctor and work in a similar area. I really like the name and well done on shipping. You can tell the app is made by a patient who suffers from the condition, which is amazing. I would be really careful in this area though,

I think make the move gradually - find the stuff you were excited in originally, that you would love to learn more about and eventually do. Spend maybe a few hours a week diving into it - then gradually increase and move away from your curr

Oh my - this is great! Does it mention what the density of the mesh is, or is it a flat plane with no displacement? Also, I wonder if there's a way to optimise the foam particles in some way. It does seem very wasteful to generate them

I love this! Criterion Channel has a similar sort of function - a single, continuous channel (called 24/7) that plays curated movies from their collection. Did you curate the list of channels / videos? Also, how is the noise gener

Huh, muscle memory implies motor programs that are subconscious and stored in the cerebellum - this is very different to creativity. It may enable you to make something new, but that is not a prerequisite. The value of spaghetti drawings is

Wow, what a load of rubbish. I hate this kind of reductive, formulaic view of creativity. I think true creativity expands what is possible – so some kind of awareness of the current state of things is important, but rote memorisation has no

Hmm this seems very confused, and it's arguable whether more consciousness / self awareness has any net benefit for social cohesion. It's very useful from an evolutionary standpoint to have an accurate internal model 'me

Thanks for sharing this. I once used Floyd-Steinberg dithering to make 3D voxel prints from brain MRI scans [0]. You just convert the scan to full white and black values to represent different inks, and it means you don't have to do an

Usually, a longer exhale is more relaxing - look up rectangle breathing. Also worth having a go at 'cyclic sighing'.

Let's be clear - this is not a medical device and is not presented or marketed as such. Software / apps definitely can be medical devices (SaMD) and if it was used in someone with impaired lung function for whatever reason, or rep

yep - I'm happy with the UI now. My main reservation is trying to get it to run smoothly across all Android hardware - there's obviously much more variation than iOS.
