What is “slow”? I mostly do JS and .NET, and I just started working through the rust hello world. I was shocked that I had an exe in around 0.2s. I haven’t worked on a large project so maybe this doesn’t scale, but of the 3 (at least for he

Sorry that happened to you. You never know who people are or where they will end up, and everyone has value and should be treated with respect. I have had similar things happen to me at conferences. nit: You should edit this and change Zoo

What’s the problem with running a script this way? Several major tools install like this (docker, netdata...) here’s a take on this that was posted to HN a while back: https://www.arp242.net/curl-to-sh.html

Vdom is a common point of premature optimization. React is very fast if you are rerendering components correctly. Turbo links is still having to diff just like react/vdom.

My post was not about what is probable but what is possible. Hey is an app, not a website, that has been built by an entire team of developers over 2+ years, with multiple millions of dollars, not a gatsby app on Netlify made in 30 minutes.

Has anyone received an invite into the program yet? I applied on day one, but don’t have a Mac Store app currently published, so I’m not sure if I will get accepted.

Sounds like it for the view side, maybe they are doing a local proxy with some offline caching with native libs, does the app work offline?

If you’re interested in talking through this and are considering C#, you’re welcome to email me and bounce around some ideas. I have a lot of experience in both Python and C# and may be able to help!

It depends on how much data is centralized. If creating a new email round trips to the server to render in the next email list page, it may feel instant on a fast connection. With a SPA framework, it could add it to the local list of emails

We use BitDefender, and it once deleted the main .exe of an internal website (after several months of no issues with the same exe) mid-day. It also flagged that exe and made it nearly impossible to restore, even with the quarantine feature.

That's fascinating. I know that AMD has been touting HBM as a faster memory subsystem for their GPUs, is that the same as HMB where it's stacked? Or are they just calling it something similar?

I'm a big fan of RTK, especially the immutable state out of the box. The biggest issue I had with onboarding was that the docs are geared toward users who already use and are familiar with Redux, React, and React-Redux (the first line

Is this the beginning of mini self-hosted clouds where the orchestration happens in a web UI but the compute/storage is local? Like a cheap version of Azure Stack? I get that you can’t keep the snowcone, but if you could, it would be a

Asp.net Core is fantastic. ASp.net is ok but not as good. Asp.net Core is cross platform, has a self hosted https server called Kestrel that is insanely fast, has a really sensible composition of middleware, built in DI, and a strong commun

This is great, getting logos off sites is so tedious. What about the legality of using the logos (for example, to use AWS logos for certain purposes, you have to be a partner). Is that an issue for you to host the logos?

Thanks, I removed the reference to WEBM in that case. MP4 and MKV are very common container formats, so being supported in WEBM, MP4, MKV doesn't seem like a differentiator.

Whenever I think about Rust vs C I think of Curl, where they've been working on a C program for decades that is used by an incredible amount of software, and they're still fixing memory leaks in it as recently as November 2019: h
