I am not in any way pro-Google and I feel what they are doing with AMP is a perilous path, but your article was not convincing. It’s trivially easy to rotate a JS name and serve it from the same cached edge file (eg with cloudflare workers)

I didn’t say that they should do this for security of the execution environment of the code, I’m not sure how you got to that interpretation. The GP said that there is output to tell users not to compromise themselves by blindly pasting uns

I owned a 2003 bmw and there were many modules within it (for example, the rear trunk latch was its own module). With CAN bus electronics it’s super cheap and they design a lot of the parts to operate this way, and they don’t directly inter

Sounds similar to Tesla and including the cameras and computer for AP but enabling through software. I don’t really have a problem with this but I wonder the implications of building DRM into basic car features like a heated steering wheel.

Why does discord even let users access dev tools? This is trivially easy to disable in prod builds. Seems odd. Is there a valid use case?

People dislike electron because they are using apps where it is not implemented well. Javascript is single threaded and blocks rendering when it’s executing, just like most major UI frameworks. You have to run everything outside the main UI

You can use nextcloud as the cloud backup and turn off backups within google photos, and then you have a photo manager with encrypted (and self hosted) backups. I have not used nextcloud myself. I use Apple products and pay for icloud. I us

It sounds like you have the motivation and persistence figured out. That’s great! Have you read Lean Startup and done some customer research? Maybe I’m wrong, but gut reaction to this app is that very few people would be willing to pay for

Replication is about having data level redundancy to protect from drive failure. Backups are about having point in time snapshots of the system state, and about having them tiered from a location perspective. The 3-2-1[1] principle says to

OT doesn’t require a central server, just a tie breaker. You could just do leader election over webRTC using raft and offload OT to the client side as well and have that node push updates to the server for durable saving every x seconds and

Ionic uses capacitor for native deployment. Capacitor is a thin cli wrapper and an api abstraction around each platform. In the desktop case, it’s a wrapper around Electron. For mobile, it’s Cordova.

Hmm, is this really true? Typically people mean lxd or docker when they say containers, but VPSes run on KVM or OpenVZ and are a different level of abstraction than a container. I could be misunderstanding VPSes but I believe they are true
