Really? I'm kind of amazed by this whole thing - I never thought there would be a desire to purchase bitcoins in real life with physical cash. I always thought of it more as a online thing people would do via exchanges, smart phone a

Perhaps at the grand old age of 32, I am becoming bitter and jaded but after SOPA and ACTA was blocked, they are just going to come around and try again and again and again. This is exactly what has happened in Australia with this damn int

I read through that page and it doesn't seem to explain how it actually works. With only one roller how do you move the mouse up and down, left and right?

I wholeheartedly support your sentiment - we should not avoid trying to solve really bad problems because the solution causes some smaller problems. However, looking through the wikipedia page on guinea worm [1] it seems that people are inf

I should also put a shout out to the compatibility library and google play services - these mean app developers are not tied to having to code against the latest version of android to use new features. Essentially all Android updates do now

Um, its worth nothing that ActionBarCompat is not an addition to 4.3. Its an addition to the support library. If you include the support library in your project and you can use features from 4.3, such as fragments, and the action bar all

Your adversary is extremely simple. You haven't mentioned in your post if you are open to or able to do any custom coding. I would suggest writing/getting an app written that runs in fullscreen and looks exactly like an OSX login

I remember hearing a quote somewhere about Elon Musk. To paraphrase: Make sure you don't have any money in your pockets when you meet him, because by the end of the meeting you will have given it to him. But seriously, I think 'being sold'

I would imagine that both the star and the planet if actually shown properly 'to scale' in the image would be tiny pin pricks. What you would see if you were 'standing there' is quite different to what you see in the image. The fact that t

I am opposed to hellbanning on hacker news. I believe it hurts our community for the following reasons: * It lacks transparency - nobody knows who is hellbanned, and why they were hellbanned. There is no appeal. * It is a crude tool - hel

Hmmm, perhaps if it was sort of tethered to the ocean floor using cables? Using a tethered base would also allow you to build in shallower water, as the flexibility would allow you to withstand some of the effects of a tsunami.

Wouldn't a self sustaining underwater colony protect us from all but the worst asteroid impacts? If you go even 100m down surely you would be protected from pretty much everything but the earthquakes?
