I really enjoyed the read and think this is a really good, fair and down to earth perspective. Also reminds me how much there is to explore for me :)

Are there any German companies that work like this?

I wonder is there any good research/data for this claim correlation between bugs and used language. I know there is some for development practices but it's independent from the language used.

You can get some of the interactivity through unit tests. Admittedly, the feedback loop is not always that tight as with the repl.

Anyone with experience has some detailed info about the limitation, trade-offs and problems of using Datalog instead of SQL? Datalog seems like a natural choice as declarative query language but has not yet become mainstream. I wonder why?

Not necessarily. Take a look at this implementation https://aosabook.org/en/500L/an-archaeology-inspired-databas... There you can only retrieve the top layer and don't have to scan all historic data, it'

Do you have more detailed info on this? I guess this could really help making a decision and understanding the tradeoff's of using datomic.

Touché :D, but to be fair the Clojure-Team (i guess Alex mostly) put a lot effort in it to improve the situation.

Interesting view. What are the 'out of the box functionalities' which Clojure is lacking? Keep in mind Clojure provides Java interop and with clojurescript js interop. The clojure ecosystem has also pretty great libraries to work

Everytime I read your name, you subtile spread some negativity :) Maybe Hickey just didn't prioritized "types" as high as some other ideas to spend his time on. And in my opinion he focused on the right things and achieved so

Does anyone know if it is possible to integrate such a system, as plugin, in clojure? Is there already a project like that?

Wow, thank you for taking the time and writing that down. Just one question: How can I obtain the knowledge to build such a system?

Not that I'm an expert but I guess he was doing it the wrong way. I just use (comment...) blocks to preserve what I entered into the repl. These blocks are also easily turned into test cases. It feels kinda similar to tdd.

I always wonder why repl driven development is not as popular as it (in my opinion) deserves to be? Am I missing something here?

Since he ask for a language why do you limit the choice to python or js? I personally would recommend Java's Jsoup.

I like to add clojure it is written in Java, so I guess it counts. But seriously what do you like about Java and why did you choose to work with it? What problem does it solve for you? I'm curious! (don't comment when you don'

100% this. I'm currently waiting for the ProtonMail calendar and still looking for an easy file sync solution. I tried syncthing today but it's really not that comfortable to use....

I wonder what stop people adopting those tools/tech. E.g. a database like crux sounds pretty compelling to use for me.

A great read! What I really appreciate, beside all the technical stuff, is the effort to create a positive and helpful community around Clojure. From the paper: "When I first was learning Common Lisp I was appalled at the tolerance on
