Here's the Twitter discussion alluded to in the post: https://twitter.com/harthvader/status/293829635823792128 Main justification is the nicer syntax. I agree it's nicer, but would approach it by wrapping sed, not re-implementing in Node.

I could see this being appealing for people who use GroupMe. "I wish I had GroupMe but only on email."

Criticizing the results of a speaker selection process is not "beating up on the people who organized" the event. Aral does indeed point to resources that describe speaker selection processes which successfully achieved healthy diversity. I

To me a "Web Book" should take advantage of some HTML5 features in order to get some of the benefits of the richer Kindle/iBooks experience: * Offline in-browser reading using AppCache * Highlighting, bookmarks, notes, last place read using

I've always wondered why they initially chose camelCase and not dashes. I like keeping camelCase for JS only. CSS uses dashes (border-top). LESS uses dashes in its example documentation.

For me it's about establishing momentum. 1. Practice TDD: Start out by just writing a test. Then you'll want to write the implementation. 2. Set yourself up for the next coding session when you're wrapping up. Leave a line of code unfinishe

Can you describe how you set Akamai to host the site? I'm familiar with using S3 to host a static site, and using a CDN to host assets, but it's not clear to me how a CDN can be set to host a full static site. Did contribute.barackobama.com

Both quality and diversity of speakers should be goals when curating a tech conference. And I think it's quite achievable, and has been achieved. Here's one example, just to the north: http://programme.scottishrubyconference.com/schedule
