Your comment is correct, but not really related to the article. Author not talking about money wasted on underutilized resources, but money wasted on expensive VPS providers like AWS versus budget options like OVH. Honestly it's a pr

Waymo uses ML/AI extensively. Here's a blog post from earlier this year about how they're forgoing CNNs for a "hierarchical graph neural network." https://blog.waymo.com/2020/05/vectornet

I'm a bit confused on the diagram for the new architecture: What's the purpose of the Lambda function? I don't see them explain that anywhere.

One of the largest AWS outages to date was caused by a scenario like this. [1] A mistyped commanded removed too many servers from an S3 subsystem, overloading the remaining servers and crashing the subsystem. The failure snowballed until

All public traffic is NAT’d through AWS’s Blackfoot servers, EC2 instances are not directly assigned public IP address. (you won’t see the public IP in ifconfig, only the private IP) So there is little to no subnetting happening in Amazon

I do the same thing. Without IPv4 for an EC2 instance, your options are: - No outbound internet access - IPv6-only outbound internet access - NAT, for an addition monthly and per-GB fee Given you can assign a public IPv4 address at no addi

How do you use Terraform with Lambda? That's been one of the huge painpoints in my limited Lambda experience. All the CI tools (SAM, Serverless Framework, e.g.) seems to want to handle the IaaS part themselves and step on Terraform&#
