Great article, and nobody hates Disney like I do (and I'm going there in a few months...). They really do excel at that sort of stuff, and the "it's not my fault, but it's my problem" line is really motivating.

No advice but my sympathies. That really sucks. What I would do in your shoes - obfuscate the code if possible, iterate rapidly (nobody can execute like you), and move a lot of logic to the backend where nobody can steal your code.

Andromeda could have been the best SciFi show of all time and the ruined it. The Magog, the Nietzscheans, the hot chicks. That show could have had it all.

This is the NYC Contest for writing apps that use the open data that NYC provides. Some cool entries in there, many (including mine) dealing with the health inspection reports for restaurants.

I hate Java, but am using it for Android to take full advantage of the platform. However, as an Actionscript guy I am curious about using AIR to write Android apps. Specifically, if I did this, would I be able to offer upgrades to native a

I believe the Ruby community is very pro-Perl. I enjoyed Perl myself and Ruby seems to have a lot of the same soul to it. I usually say Ruby is everything I loved about Perl with none of what I disliked/hated.

Great movie. I am looking to get into Arduino development myself. In a way it reminds me of Rails, in that it inspires a world of DIYers to build whatever they are dreaming about.

Marriage is always a mistake, but it is important that you make it with the right person :-). I've been married for 3.5 years to the best girl in the world. Best mistake I ever made. As far as advice goes, make her feel included in your ad

The whole Froyo on the Galaxy S debacle has been nuts. It was promised in September. Since then it has been plagued with deployment problems and is still in purgatory for the US users. That said, I have become a big fan of Samsung's hardw

This is a great tool. I love playing with Ruby on my Android. I actually believe in using straight-up Java for the Android device (and I hate Java), but this is great for getting quick and dirty. It's actually the only app which makes me

I don't think it matters too much that java has non-objects in the language. That might be a symptom of a non-oo nature, but only the most anal would say that's proof it's not an oo language. However I still don't think java is an oo lang

I know there are services like tweetlater.com, but am not sure about foursquare. I thought of making an app to do this, but obviously the second it did well foursquare would add a 'publish at' field to checkins. Might still do it as an int

One other thing that Shopify did well was extract a lot of code into open source projects. Liquid, DelayedJob and ActiveMerchant are all thanks to their hard work. So rather than just make money for themseves (which they did do), they "mov

Ruby really has had a great year. All us fanboys can now say "I told you so". Ruby 1.9.2 and Rails 3.0 were great milestones. Also the community has flourished. We lost _why ( sniff ) and Zed (don't let the door hit you...) but some great

That's a reasonable argument but doesn't bother me because 1) I don't like the given/when/then syntax anymore (a personal thing, but I do see the advantages (Uncle Bob has a great article about it)) 2) I don't mind the nesting as long as ea
