I have the same usage pattern as you (and I would like to see a bar on HN as well), however there's a huge difference between Digg and Reddit in this regard: the Reddit bar is opt-in. If you haven't opted in, the URL will simply forward to

Sure. But you're only allowed to sell in a "coffee shop". And demand there is probably too high to support such a model.

We're running a freemium model. Users get to view ads or they can pay to remove them and get some other features. The free part gets a lot of people into the game (as a figure of speech, but also literally) and some buy a VIP account.

I would say that failure should be very, very low. What I really took issue with here was the relative silence about altering my query. It wouldn't have been half as bad if the note was on the top of the page. I would really prefer it if th

Just some information about the legality of marijuana in The Netherlands. I know very little about this, but the knowledge I have by virtue of living there and the discussions that are going on about it is probably more than that of some ot

I'm not sure about the quality of Live Search. I do know that I'm starting to find that Google Search gets increasingly more annoying over time. Not in the sense that I start to dislike their interface, but more that their latest "enhanceme

Ehrm... It does now in any case. I didn't see it before blushes (Seriously, how can I miss the only line on a four line page that completely invalidates the point I was trying to make?) Anyway, that probably was a good demonstration why i

Also, family handling completely sucks. If you have both a husband and his wife in your contacts and they move, you have to change both their contact details. Even worse when you decide you want to keep track of the birthdays of their three

How nice. There's two paragraphs of which the author says it's about programming, but in reality it's about how hard it is to fact check political statements. The rest of the article is politics pure and simple. If you don't believe me, you

I learned it by switching to Dvorak. I put little stickers on my keyboard indicating the letters. So I started typing with hunt-and-peck. After some time, some stickers came loose. The keys I used the most, lost their adhesion the first. Th

Hmmm... Using the UNIX word list for password resets may lead to passwords like "oversexed#asshole". May not be the best password to send to your users. I would suggest trimming the wordlist before use, if you plan to use it for handing out

I think most people have internalised the notion of backslash being the escape operator. That's the way it's used in a lot of languages. Using it for something different not only feels dirty, it may also make it harder to get the "feel" (i.
