Great. I think it also helps that you were at a senior position in Zoho. Apart from the visibility and a large network, it probably makes it a little more convincing for people who are on the fence when it comes to joining such a venture.

If someone still has any doubts about the value of YC, they should read this email exchange. PG is pushing for the startup as if it was his own. He genuinely wanted them (and also the VC firm) to succeed. Great stuff.

Just been on it for a day. The best thing so far has been that it gives me a chance to connect with hackers in India and discuss specific issues with them. Mailing lists just don't cut it when it comes to interacting with like minded folks

Hmm, perhaps it could. The strategy I was trying to suggest is to try and get progressively elongated stretches of time when the person would not have alcohol. It slowly can help wean off the addiction. But at the end of the day, if it is n

You seem to have the will power if you can hold off for 4 weeks. Have you tried using a reward strategy like I would only drink and chill out after a couple of days when task X is finished? Gradually you can then reduce your drinking days f

How could you possibly suggest that those doing this are doing it out of a secret need to build their public profile. That's a pretty cynical worldview. I think it is a valid concern. I don't say for all of the 'Offer HN' threads
