No offense, but how could possibly Debian Sid and the SUSE have more stable rolling release. For a rolling release you count on the default configuration working and both Debian and SUSE are a hell of customise scripts. I don't think i

I expect the same, but on the other hand many things related to X configuration have improved since then (dpi, multi-screen, etc), so I was hoping the result would be better. I need only xfce, appmenu and plank anyway.

Mine is around 6-7 years old. Started off as an Antergos on T450s, then moved to T480 and later on I replaced the extra repos and the startup logo with EndeavourOS after the Antergos ones went dark. However, I can see a noticable slowdown a

May I ask what classifies this comment as flamebait, what the concrete criteria are and some other examples? Thanks P.S. Alright, now I see, that it would be under the "unrelated controversy" clause. Could you explain to me object

It is extremely naive to think that ServiceNow would be able to steal a feature from e.g. the PM part of GitLab. The reason why their products are even more obnoxious than paper bureaucracy is definitely not that noone ever told them what t

Well, it is a rather small river and the first major conglomeration is Ostrava with a population of 900,000 and a shitton of heavy industry to this day. On the other hand still having some non-offshore industry (DE, CZ, PL, etc) has many ad

Speaking of this, have you of LMAX Disruptor[0]? You probably have. And yeah, having fine control over the memory allocation and garbage collection in such a high-level language (multi-platform vm!) is akin to building a ship in a bottle. H

Have you noticed how EU parliament works - it doesn't matter whom you send there, they all vote the same. With a few exceptions like Petr Mach or J Korvin-Mikke ofc, but it is more fringe exceptions.

Yes, but in this case it explicitly says it is not a tech layoff. So the possible relevance is denied at source.

It would be nice if it included info on how many of the layoffs are technical people. I know of layoffs here in EU, but it was UX, product, etc. Seems like techies are still in demand.

It is a great book, somewhat better than the competition, but being aware of Feist in the age of Tolkien, GRRM and even the Harry Potter lady, simply means a lonely childhood hah.

It doesn't imply anything like that. And in case someone takes everything personally, then they must be an extremely dysfunctional person. I am an average guy looking for truth through discussion, not a clinical psychiatrist.

3 months ago J Powell (of Kraken, not Fed lol) adviced his users not to keep their crypto on his exchange[0]. Not the best business move either. A possible explanation might be provided here: https://twitter.com/jespow/

Before that was Classical Liberalism. At least in US and Western Europe. In Eastern Europe it was something officially called "Unimplemented Communism/Developed Socialism".

To be honest, I really took that into account. For example this crap fat (known by everyone) momma-pizza's taste has deteriorated from 8 to 6. High quality single-malt's taste has deteriorated from 7 to 5, while mince and sausage

Yes, but it is as socially unfair as government services being charged on for-profit basis. Or even a bit more. I am the most anti-socialist person I know and even to me, inflation is too cruel of a tax.

What does Clive Thompson have to do with software engineering excellence? Could you send me his github. Judging people by their appearance is extremely superficial and guaranteed to bring you tons of problems in any more complex context.

It is not just IKEA. Besides shrinkflation, there must be something like shitficflation, because here in C. Europe, mince and sausages became basically inedible over the past 12 years. Which is a shame as I used to enjoy both.
