Not necessarily, but generally (99%) yes. It's both an advantage and disadvantage of the framework. Use the right tool for the job :).

Not in Go, but Discourse is a monolithic rails app on Github which I've used as an example for my own employment's code base in the past. Another example is Gitlab's code base (also Rails).

I agree with this. However, for whatever reason, suggesting a monolith or (gasp!) not writing a spa for an app and using traditional ssr html seems to signal that you're antiquated and old fashioned. I've only been doing this for

Seconding this. My degree comes in handy all the time conceptualizing software and architecture problems into computer science problems, which are much less murky to solve. My practical experience comes in handy all the time with the day-to

No inherent advantage, but Laravel shipping Vue as a default requires 0 config and the community has crystallized around it as a result, whereas Rails' Webpacker isn't a default in the install and puts the onus of choice on the de

I'd use Laravel over Rails for a new project in 2018. The community is more active and correspondingly the freebies more modern. Rails' front end story became a ghetto once SPAs became a thing.

North American culture is increasingly interpreting freedom as a freedom-from as opposed to a freedom-to, as in, I am free from being an adult as opposed to I am free to be an adult.

100% agree. Rails console and irb is a major reason why I keep coming back to Rails, I haven't found anything as mature and pleasant to use in a web dev framework for verifying the code and tinkering with my models.

A small, subjective point of improvement: #fff and #000 are very high contrast, I find pages with a slight muting of these two colors (ie, #fcfcfc and #030303 - an offset of 3 in rgb) to be much easier to read. Regardless, I love the site.
