You also need to pass a `experimentalDenoServe: true` option in the options bag passed to `start()` in your `main.ts` file. I forgot to add this to the post initially. Have retroactively added it now :)

Yes, it was a tech demo for some internal projects. I maintain the framework itself, but a lot of the work in other parts of the Deno system (Deno Deploy, Deno CLI) that are related to Fresh are done by other folks on the team :)

This is actually something I am planning a plugin for, just like we have for Twind.

Indeed it was :)

Nope, no startup penalty. It is just as performant as the classic JSX pragma. The actual JavaScript that is executed by the runtime is pretty much identical.

Hey folks, author of Fresh here. Very excited for this rather significant release. Happy to answer any questions you may have :)

You will not need node or npm installed.

Yes, this will be supported.

No, it wasn't intentional. Because the incident was not triggered by automation, the incident on the status page was not automatically created. The team did not remember to update the status page while we were investigating the issue.

A bit of a blunt statement on my part. There is monitoring on a multitude of other connection related issues (eg TLS handshake failures, missing SNI, etc). We should have had monitoring for this specific failure where the load balancer did

The system does have mitigation against the first two failures in isolation (as described in the post). The mitigations did not work correctly in this scenario with the combined failures unfortunately. This is obviously unexcusable, and we

Our issue here was very much in finding the root cause. Because the failed traffic was “black holed” (TCP connections were being dropped), we had very little information other than “it isn’t working” from the users that reported the issue.

Yes, this is something I want to add in the future. We're just not quite there yet. My current plan is: 1. first class styling plugins 2. synchronized island state 3. built in data persistence

Yes, that is the idea. Fresh is primarily a routing and templating system with built in client hydration.

If you have "prefers-reduced-motion" set to true in your browser / OS, the animation will stop :)

Yeah, it doesn't do this. The transpiled output is cached indefinitely for a given deployment.

It's open source, and runnable on any server that you can run Deno on (so any reasonably modern Linux, macOS, or Windows) system. You can also host it on our managed edge runtime offering, Deno Deploy.

It's not magic. There is an `islands/` folder that you must place all of your client components in. 1 component per file. See https://fresh.deno.dev/docs/getting-started/adding-interacti...

It is. Deno runs TypeScript out of the box.

Deno already automatically performs incremental type checking with a cache whenever possible. In most cases this is still _very_ slow though (double digit seconds).

That option already exists, and we found that most people we interviewed used it more often than the default.

The unfortunate thing about TypeScript is that incremental type checks are still very slow, because any file can influence the type of any other file, without the other file knowing. It's a design issue, that is unfortunately very unli

Well you seem to be asserting we are removing type checking, which we are not. We are just moving around when the tooling does the type checking (now in it's own step, rather than at runtime). Code is still being type checked, just not
