Personally I think the problem starts at “shared understanding” and I think the most promising solution lies within combining ontologies (such as ones based on BFO, perhaps) with Abstract Syntax Trees or Concrete Syntax Trees. I suspect fut

The explanation I heard was that E4X died at the time because (a) JSON developed by the early/mid 2000s to compete with XML and (b) XHTML would so easily break in strict browsers that the web was pushed in the direction of HTML5 instea

If Microsoft can sustain so many teams working on To-Do apps https://twitter.com/4Lou/status/1265723231396417536?s=20 that they need a chart to illustrate how your To-Dos will move between apps, I think Microsoft

Part of the problem is a number of networks use public IPs including IPv6. NAT isn’t always required. Where it is used though, one could block DNS reflection at the DNS forwarder or locally, and use an application-specific firewall to block

It might not be localhost or a local IP if users use a different hostname, common for some environments, at which point it would have to be configurable. But yes, that could also work, if all browsers send Origin headers as expected.

I particularly like the “websites can reject unknown host header” solution as an extra form of protection against this. But we go back to the web socket server needing to inspect the URL and host headers it’s given. Also: https://

That won’t help if someone sets up public DNS to point to localhost or 127.0.0.1 though. Unless you check after DNS is resolved? It’s also possible someone might bind to an IPv6 address. Better to rely on fixes mentioned elsewhere for web s

That’s exactly the solution I was thinking of. No end-user visible changes required, just change websocket to require a secret on initial connection. An easy way of doing this might be to use the web socket URL path or a query variable. Not

Podcast apps commonly host indexes for the same reason Google or Bing or another search engine ships with most browsers. Users don’t know, and don’t care, about URLs, especially RSS feed URLs. They (we) just want to type in something and ta

I don’t know, the code itself is shorter and easier to read than the readme initially was. And maybe this will dissuade folks from installing and using this if they’re not committed to maintaining it as part of their dependencies. Dependenc
