This is rather disappointing. The dial-up modem sound is digitally created, and a digital lengthening of each tone is much higher quality.

We make nouns out of adverbial/prepositional phrases often, and alias ("in other places [known as]" -> "a name by which one is known in another place") is just one example. We talk about items, but "item" is the adverb that means "also"

Bad karma. People get hesitant to work at your company if you don't pay your employees, so you only get people who don't mind that risk.

Wait, why are generally accepted accounting practices nonsense? And, if so, why are they generally accepted? I don't know much about accounting, so this question is in earnest.

Grammar trivia: "children" contains redundancy, a doubled plural. The germanic plural of "child" is "childer", and that didn't sound plural enough, so they added the -en that pluralized such fine words as ox -> oxen, and child-er-en the

The chainable API calls looks pretty convenient for bulk uploads. Is there any way of lifting the 5-second restriction? What sort of limits do you foresee in how many key-value pairs can get stored?

Water cooling feels like brute force. Why not give it plenty of air, and have the apparatus underclock itself enough until it's within a designated temperature envelope?

Why are you friends with moochers? Won't they ever pick up the tab? This tech looks really useful for lots of verticals, but not for friends. If you constantly pay for people who won't pay for you, stop doing that.

The bigger problem is that Anonymous is a lynch mob. Maybe in it for good, maybe in it for lulz, but it's still a digital lynch mob. The fundamental problem is that we're trusting vigilantes when we should be trusting courts to bring justic

ZeroCater's minimum order size is 10, if I recall. Imagine you could get an extra half-hour of productive conversations out of people for ten bucks each. That's paying people $20/hr! What a good deal for engineers in the Bay Area.

So you have 64-bit integer keys and 64-bit integer values, and you need to store these key-value pairs such that you get good lookups from key to list of values and from value to list of keys? How often are you updating? What is reading fro

Yes. You can say a = zipWith (+) (0 : b) (tail c ++ [0]) and that would make a[i] = b[i-1] (where b[-1] is 0) + c[i+1] (EDIT: where the last element of c is 0 (thanks tkahn6!)). Also, interestingly, if you have lazy evaluation, you c

Why is there no penalty? Lawyers wasted a lot of billable hours over a suit filed over a copyright claim on facts. If there's no penalty for such frivolous claims, we'll keep having to fight the same fight, wasting money along the way.

If you'd buy twice as many at $65 than at $155, then you've just proven why, to maximize profit, they should be selling it at $155 instead of $65. 155n vs 130n is pretty straightforward, and the point of luxury brands is that not everyone i
