Why do humans distrust "algorithms"? Maybe they had past experiences where algorithms behaved worse than humans? A recent example from recently: facebook replaced human-curated news with machine-curated, they started trending fake

I don't think it's nearly as difficult as DRM. That feature is mostly a gimmick. A lot like Snapchat's. This might help with security if it takes as long to crack someone's phone as it takes to expire the messages.

Regarding SMS - it's not always an alternative to SMS since it uses data. I know data is more popular than SMS in many countries, but when you hit your monthly limit, you want to disable all data. Regarding the simplicity of using a

I love Signal and this seems to be a stab at Wickr since from what I've heard that is the reason people prefer it to Signal sometimes. Having said that, it has a couple of problems: 1. Images are downsampled without warning. There shou

Still seems much better to buy your own gtx 1080 for $700 which you would have spent in a month playing with parameters on these instances. And at the end of the month you still have a modern GPU to play video games on etc. Of course if you

I guess my point is that the valids could have been 100x better athletes than all the invalids which wasn't the case in the movie. For example, they could have retractable fins and could breathe under water. Something which would make

That's the thing. If he was the better athlete then they didn't do the generic engineering well at all. For me the message seemed to be "don't do generic engineering because it cannot beat motivation" which discount

I was very much annoyed by the movie when I saw it. Primarily because the "genetically inferior" person somehow had more motivation and drive than the genetically engineered ones. So perhaps they were not so much genetically super

Then why bring up WSJ at all? What about all the other papers? and what about all the other sources of training data for NLP research? WSJ dataset is not the only such dataset. NLP is not very good with standard English yet and usually does

They clearly got the ages wrong that's not really debatable. Do not take my word for it though. There are plenty of studies in this space that got wildly different results some of which mostly agree with hotornot ratings.

That particular study is pretty bad. Look at the contestants' faces. They might be failing at identifying facial features or not accounting for lighting, tilt, etc. It is obvious if you look at their estimated ages.

I would be surprised if it became popular. Perhaps it doesn't have the features of Hangouts while it does have the requirement that you install another app and the stigma of it being a Google product (i.e. they collect all your info).
