It's interesting that SVGs can include selectable text. Nice blog.

Most projects only offer docker compose files and podman compose failed with too many of them contrary to developer claims. I did not want the hassle of writing new quadlets for every project so I just went back to rootless Docker. Also I b

Hardware is fundamentally built at the discretion of the manufacturer. Our only recourse for freedom was to plead for their mercy. Since manufacturers have decided to openly disregard user freedom, changing the law is the only solution.

My goal on a webpage for specific product information is simply to extract data and leave. I have zero interest in learning a new immersive UX for a task that should take seconds. The modern web's obsession with maximizing engagement a

In a case like this, the package maintainer's account itself has been hacked, so I'm not sure if that would be meaningful. The only solution would be to prevent all releases from being applied immediately.

I looked up the word 'hentai', and the way you used it is incorrect. It's like using the word 'porn' to mean 'child pornography.' There is also a problem with your argument itself. Child pornography is ill

"A single disruptive commenter (Zaid)" And he is one of the top contributors. That doesn't quite fit the narrative that it was just some weirdo interfering.

Promotion without a single screenshot. Not interested in projects with READMEs like this. If it's actually good, it'll spread on its own. Honestly the 'Project Structure' section which is just a directory listing, feels

I've only heard of Astro before, but I got interested today and it seems like an intriguing framework. That said, Astro also seems to be developed under a venture-backed company. Is it still less likely to end up like Next.js and React

A closer look at the sequence of events makes it clear that the failures weren’t due to the package author. He fulfilled his responsibilities as a author.

This is exactly the question I have. While WebRTC causes fingerprinting risks in browsers, isn’t that unrelated to running ffmpeg?

You're right. And that's not an issue with any particular platform, but with open source projects that accept issues and PR in general. I don't think this is the place for a debate about the overall utility of open source.

You're right. But as far as I remember, neither GitHub nor GitLab were really mainstream at the time. I think the real competition began around the same time.

Did you ever use the alternatives before GitHub took off? GitLab? It was awful. Slow, and paying for that kind of experience felt like a bad joke. It's much better now but it was borderline unusable back in the day. Or SourceForge, bef

This isn't a platform issue — it's a problem with the PR system, and arguably with open source itself. If you're unwilling to spend time on anything beyond writing code, maybe keep the project closed-source.

Contribution isn’t driven by a desire for rewards, but by goodwill. Friction only gets in the way. If the friction is worth it, fine - but what exactly is being lost by moving the repository to GitHub?

Using Rust in a project felt less like implementing ideas and more like committing to learning the language in depth. Most projects involve messy iteration and frequent failure. Doing that in Rust is painful. Starting a greenfield project i

Yeah please continue your "only on ios" policy. I will have a PW manager server on LAN and use it everywhere via VPN. These are the reasons why I don't use Apple products despite the great hardware.
