It's the best laptop I have ever used. I have it since it newly came out in 2023 and it never let me down, is quick (I have the 7840u), quiet (passive in power-saver platform profile, unless pushed, but even then it's manageable),

Really cool! I wish that Coreboot was available for more recent Thinkpads. I have a Z13 Gen2 which I plan to use until it falls apart, and would love to liberate it with Coreboot. But alas, I can't.

That would be better, yeah. Ideally some #ifdefs that I can configure to remove all the slop from the binary itself ;)

Since AI is a grift, I guess that makes it a perfect topic for Twitter indeed.

Been using GOS since roughly 2020. I refuse to use a Phone without GOS on it. It's been amazing.

AI use for translation is a good fit for the tech. The problem is generative AI.

This behavior is part of the problem that got us here, using LLMs for everything.

But hey, we get slop videos of the pope doing something funny, that's just as cool as being able to purchase computer hardware, right?

And have it hallucinate stuff? Nah, this stuff is hard enough without LLMs guessing.

Strong disagree. I like binary formats because I can just fopen(), fseek() and fread() stuff. I don't need json parser dependency, and don't need to deal with compression. Binary formats are simple, fast and I need a way smaller b

As long as russia bombs apartment buildings and terrorizes a soverein nation while waging hybrid war against a multitude of others, it's going to be the enemy. I hope russia crumbles, and people like you stop pretending that russia is

Well it's not E2EE, so what did you expect? Nothing you do on Discord is private, everything is screened, categorized and readable by third parties.

It sounds like it's lying and making stuff up, something everybody seems to be okay with when using LLMs.

I argue that if you have literal hundreds of billions of hard cash to burn for stupid things like AI datacenters, you could afford to make the lives of millions of starving people not suck instead, pretty easily so. But to do that, you'

Nice article, the first one. I hope they try it, burn many billions of cash, and then fail. I also hope they don't spread radioactive material across the whole atmosphere when failing, though.

It's called learning, and it used to be the hacker mindset to continuously improve. But I guess that died with slop generators.

I am arguing LLMs should not be used for anything, since in my opinion their downsides outweigh their upsides. Also, I don't consider LLMs a tool, because I can trust my tools, and I cannot trust anything an LLM outputs.

I disagree, in my opinion it's the exact same process, just on a much smaller scale. It's a problem, and we humans are good at solving problems. That is, until LLMs arrived, now we are supposed to become good at prompting, or some

If 800m people think delegating thinking to a slop generator is fine, that's not my loss. It's bad for humanity, but who even cares anymore in 2026, right?
