I used OpenResty + Lua + Redis to implement a quick blacklist for an ad platform like 10 years ago. It really does make everything so simple and it's pretty fun to work with.

Sounds so similar to something we had set up when I worked for a major retailer a few years ago. In order to get a cert you had to email the security team or some junk like that and THEY would go through the digicert UI. I stopped reading t

I just switched to printing my todo tasks on a receipt printer. I have an arduino connected to a receipt printer and a Python script that can send commands to the arduino to print tasks. Also just finished adding barcode scanning so the tas

This sort of statement is so wild to me. Exploits are absolutely insanely complex nowadays, for example speculative execution exploits are a thing that feel like magic. This one here is so insane: https://news.ycombinator.com

Right?! This whole post is kinda absurd. It has the feel of a kid putting a fork into an outlet, getting the shock of a lifetime and then going “and thanks to this, everyone in my household now knows not to put a fork into an outlet.” You d

While I think it’s great that kubernetes standardized primitives and I do love that IMO its best “feature” is its declarative nature and how easy it is to figure out what other devs did for an app without digging through documentation. It’s

All of that is working, at least, because the very small company I work for with a limited budget is working on getting an extremely expensive copilot license. Oh no, I might have to deal with this soon..

There’s no possible need for an admin-level user that bypasses logging. If anything these users should have additional logging to external systems to make it harder to hide their use.

Search has gotten so bad I have replaced like 80% of it with LLMs, typically Claude or Gemini. I've also switched my searches over to duckduckgo whenever I do end up searching for something but even that is on the bad side.

Yeah, I read “largely compatible” as sort of left-handed or like, not fully the same. And no, I don’t think there’s a noticeable difference in terms of intelligence between us and someone from 30,000 years ago or even something more extreme
