This goes back a little, but IIRC one was GRUB somehow got messed up (yes, I know, technically not Linux... but it's part of the experience). I managed to fix that one by reinstalling GRUB which, to be completely honest, was kinda fun.

You're absolutely right, I think I've just had bad luck or have been inadvertently screwing up one thing or another. I'll likely give it a shot once again before the forced Windows 11 upgrade comes my way, the telemetry and b

I have tried switching to Linux from Windows a couple times now. I enjoy it, but every single time I experience crashes. Twice it's been corruption of key boot files. I wish I had a couple billion to donate to / create some key Li

This is willfully ignorant. Yes it has been used, but that was not its design function. I'm not justifying its use, but it's unfair to qualify it as de jure baseload when in reality it may be temporarily de facto base load.

This is very likely a big factor. It could very possibly just be embellishment, as well.

That's an interesting take. Everything costs money. You know the reason why the CAPTCHA service is free is because they have value in the results of the CAPTCHA, right? You're not viewing ads or paying for this service. I'd p

Just to be sure, do you mean Waterloo University? If so, this is in Ontario, Canada, not the US. You could always go to Waterloo or another reputable school for a master's degree, if you'd like to specialize in something you find

Somehow soothing to know that organizations small and large, legal and illegal, all suffer from something getting in the way of vital security information reaching those who would act on it.

I'm so encouraged watching this. I am very curious to see how their energy capture does vs their claims. Helion's website claims 95% capture (I'm assuming in isolated tests with electrically induced EM fields).

I work at a large mining complex in Canada's far north. We have a mix of all types of door handles and mechanisms in outside-facing doors, like McMurdo, it would seem. Even the best of them fails to keep snow out and heat in when you g

If anyone here is from RadPower, please fix the Canadian site redirect. It's SO frustrating having sites recommend we use their Canadian version, only to get redirected to the Canadian home page or be told that that product doesn'

I can't stand forced product refills from the OEM. I refilled my Sodastream maybe a half dozen times before buying a 5lb tank, an adapter hose off Ebay. It paid for itself in 2 refills of the 5lb tank at a nearby homebrew store.

I paid only slightly more than that in Québec, Canada. The province is blessed with a superabundance of hydroelectric potential and thankfully the infrastructure is in well-managed government hands.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. We use cyclone for 3D CMS scans of open holes at the mine I work at. Cool to see other use cases. Were you using 3DReshaper before the rebranding?

I second the "no". I have given Linux 3 tries (several months, and a lot of patience) over the last 10 years and each time I've had to ship back to windows at some point. It's not there.
