I think they are saying that the current title ("people died ... amid scandal") muddies the water when it comes to the causal relation, arguably "people were led to suicide by baseless accusations" _might_ be a more fait

Weird that Infer [1] was not included in the evaluation. It supports C/C++ and its underlying reasoning framework (Separation Logic [2]) is exactly geared towards checking memory safety. [1] https://fbinfer.com/ [2] h

But at least you can search for "Microsoft Office" to counter the issue. Plus, they have the excuse that they have been doing this since before the Web existed, literally. What do you do with X? "X social"? Ludicrous.

I just meant very generally that we (humans) are still struggling to make regular programs secure, we built decades worth of infrastructures (langages, protocols, networks) where security was simply not a concern and we are still reckoning

Given our spectacular inability to make "regular" programs secure in the absence of all that fuzziness, I don't know if it's a good idea.

Personally I don't mind Wallabag's, well, barebones interface, and having recently jailbroken my Kindle I think its integration with KOReader is its real killer app. I've found the EPUB conversion works really well (modulo so

It can never be "the same way" because the LLM cannot face any consequences (like jail time or getting their "license" stripped: they don't have one), nor will its masters.

Sycophancy is not the only problem (although is a big one). I would simply never put my therapy conversations up on a third-party server that a) definitely uses them for further training and b) may decide to sell them to, say, healthcare in

Exactly, and translating business requirements into code is so frustrating and error-prone that entire philosophies (and consulting firms) have been built around it. LLMs are no silver bullet, they are just faster to come up with _something

There are subtle sources of nondeterminism in concurrent floating point operations, especially on GPU. So even with a fixed seed, if an LLM encounters two tokens with very close likelihoods, it may pick one or the other across different run

How good is JS interop with C/C++/BLAS? That's the basic stepping stone, I think. If you cannot make something in JavaScript that can compete with numpy there's little chance that things will change anytime soon.

I am not a Dafny expert but from what I have gathered it uses a deductive procedure underneath, so it's rather geared towards sequential code. To analyse concurrent code, one needs to essentially build a sequential program that _also m

I do not see much backing to the claim LLMs can "democratize" formal methods, given that their specifications likely still have to be proof-read by an actual expert. There's also the issue that plain assertion-checking will o
