arXiv is great. It's just a problem that there's so much slop. What if arXiv offered a subscription service that people in different fields could use to just see a curated selection of the top papers in their field each month. Est

Er, then what is the "already trained" model? I thought pre-training was the gradient descent through the internet part of building foundational models.

No, that's not MCP. That's a pleasant idea that MCP has been shoehorned into trying to solve. But MCP the spec is far more complicated than it needs to be to support that story. Streamable HTTP transport makes it much more worka

I don't understand what point you're trying to make. Keen isn't in the LLM space.

Wyden has been special, as long as I can remember. I feel like a lot of us early tech people had something of a libertarian bent. I think to some extent I've grown out of it in my less idealistic older age, but the whole idea of freedo

I remember being totally flummoxed when I was trying to figure out why my trackpad wasn't clicking when the machine was off. I had no idea it wasn't a mechanical lever anymore!

What do you mean by racist? I'm a white/hispanic American and spent 3 months in China and didn't really notice anything problematic towards me.

Right, that's the section I was confused by because it was in the context of an experiment trying to use the AI stuff without an Internet connection, which obviously won't work. The article is using the "shared onwards"

Agreed. I'm confused trying to map what the article is saying to what's happening at a technical level. For example, obviously it's not doing on-device inference, so it's unsurprising that it won't work without a ne

It's interesting this thread is all about how the deal is basically the same therefore corruption. And the other thread is all about how it's subtly different therefore OpenAI has no model red lines. I'd love to hear if Anthr

As someone who has had to deal with OAuth quite a bit at work, I like it for the most part, but it's just so dang big and complicated. Almost everyone thinks of OAuth as the "three legged redirect" flow, where one site send

What's actually happening? From the commentary here on HN I thought everyone was going to have to upload an ID or something. I use a Discord server to chat with some old high school friends, and wasn't wanting to upload my ID to t

I guess I mean that you're projecting anthropomorphization. When I see people sharing examples that the model answered wrong, I'm not interpreting that they think it "didn't know" the answer. Rather, they're re

No, you're the one anthropomorphizing here. What's shocking isn't that it "knows" something or not, but that it gets the answer wrong often. There are plenty of questions it will get right nearly every time.
