Still, the observable universe is only a small fraction of the whole universe (we believe, based on spacetime curvature, I think).

What exactly is a "financial accounting database"? I'm sort of surprised that there's a market for a DB targeting a very specific workflow. I would have thought that if you need that volume of specific transactions (majo

Oh no, I'm so sorry. My baby girl was born in Jan 2021, also in Chicago, and I very much remember reading your blog in the days leading up to her birth after another stumbling across it from another comment of yours here on HN. It'

I've dabbled with Phoenix 1.6-dev (after seeing it in action and being mindblown in the livebook code), and think the new HEEX components are great. Building a LiveView app out of components, and sending messages back to the server and

I'm not sure if this is what the article is trying to get at, but here's a concern I have about models vs data: algorithm choice and hyperparameters. I'm no expert but I've trained a few models, and I think there's

Had to scroll down quite a ways but I'm glad someone asked. I assume people here wouldn't be taking, e.g. this story[0] at face value. When that one came out I figured it was "big if real", but I decided it wasn't r

Thanks for the transcript! I'm not usually a fan of audio/video so I love that I can just read the interview. How is it generated? Speech recognition? Much in the way of hand editing necessary?

I'm so excited for Phoenix 1.6. I think Phoenix was almost onto gold with LiveView when introduced, but it was still a little rough around the edges. But Phoenix 1.6 should sand away all the roughness, and we'll be in an awesome

My oculus quest 1 works just fine over my glasses (had to add the little foam insert that came with it). Not sure about the 2, though.

Wasn't there a Swift version of FastAI, too? Are they trying to have libraries in multiple ecosystems, or did that one peter out?

Sounds like you're in a sad bubble that's all part of the 40% then. But it's great out here in the 60%. I recommend you get out of your comfort zone and meet some new people, who statistically will be optimistic and happy.

Something I don't understand about the criticisms of the launch is that the rocket landed back on a platform. This was something SpaceX was (entirely justifiably) lauded for. Is it just old hat now? Or is the SpaceX version of it more

The JS required by Phoenix is included in the Elixir dependency, and relatively referenced by the build script. As for other JS dependencies, if you need them, you can add npm, webpack, or whatever you need. But they're making the stat
