I program a lot of personal projects and just ignore the drama. It's a fun language to program in, and whatever dramatics the core team is engaged in, they've still managed to put out an excellent language and ecosystem.

Lecun's law: Every discussion about AI eventually results in someone catastrophizing about an evil AI taking over, despite having no argument for why an evil, omnipotent AI is likely to ever exist.

The real theme of the article was how social, outgoing, and successful this guy was, and how much this guy was liked by his friends and "friends." For some reason the WSJ wants to paint it with a patina of DRUGS.

The obvious bias in the article suggests that it's probably wrong. It would take a ton of research to know for sure.

There's still a lot of data that needs to be passed between GPUs. SageMaker is "minimizing the communication," but it's still way more than nothing, and all the gradients need to be communicated roughly every iteration.

I see a lot of negativity about a product that isn't even clear yet, which is a shame. There are a lot of problems with AI development today, and if Modular fixes even a slice of issues, then that's pretty great. I have some skept

Everybody hates salespeople, and salespeople optimize for their own company's goals, just like an AI chatbot will have to. There's no way you will want to interact more with Walmart's chatbot than necessary.
