I might be misreading the paper, but it seems like that this is due to an unfaithful implementation of the hardware that allows for undervolting occur with the right mix of instructions, P-states, and software, rather than a fundamental des

It's funny that you say cheap, when I remember the printer being about $99 (in late 90s dollars!) which was close to the price of a Game Boy (color) as well. In all my years of school and daycare I remember seeing exactly one kid with

I’ve observed this with big and small business alike: + bought a baking steel direct from the seller (shipping time ~5 days vs. 1 month+, so I canceled the amazon order) + monitor out of stock for over a week on amazon (in stock at bnh, shi

Is there likely to be any meaningful difference? With most worthwhile SSDs incorporating a sizable DRAM cache and OS file system caching on top, would day-to-day journaling and other overhead be expected to make a dent in SSD longevity?

The natural question now is how much the i9-10980HK differs from the 9980HK that the 4800HS seems to trounce handily. Judging by the fact that it's still on some iteration of 14nm(++++++), it looks to be more of the same strategy of ag

This is as good of a demonstration of the big "common sense" gap that end-to-end computer vision approaches have as it is of adversarial examples. Even with an occluded speed limit sign, humans have strong priors on what a sensibl

How many things can a single article conflate? 'reading ease' amounts to applying a three-variable regression on a text and basically says "longer words and sentences make you sound smart." It's not the tool you wan

Thermodynamically if we take the headline at face value this is absolutely worse in principle, since abstractly the "outdoors" is simultaneously being warmed by waste heat from A/C. If this were the case it is fighting itself

I’d be really surprised if the Chinese “secret police” drive around with an array of plushies on the passenger side dash. However neglecting motor vehicle law is very typical in Irvine in my experience.

This is possible only when you have a temperature _difference_ to work with. If it’s equally hot everywhere, you’re SOL. (Think heat death of the universe)

StarCraft or any RTS presents new challenges that were not covered by previous games. Basic things such as the massive action space meant that the previous “tabula rasa” approach was abandoned in favor of imitation learning to get the agent

How so? JPEG compression is orthogonal to resolution. At the macroblock (or per pixel) level, a 100MP image is not degraded more than a 0.3MP image. So if softness can be seen in a 24MP jpg, it should also be discernible in a 100MP jpg.
