"let’s create a graph data model that looks and feels like JSON". This was à stupid idea. N3 is, and has always been, the only readable (and human-editable) serialization format for graphs. N3.parse() can recreate an in-memory gra

Yet another option, if you are experienced with other languages and want to learn JS: Javascript Enlightenment [1]. It only focuses on the concepts that make Javascript different from (let's say) Java. Note: this is a pre-ES6 book. [1]

This book is FANTASTIC to understand functors & monads. Not sure it is a good resource to learn the Javascript language. (but if you are beyond the beginner level, I highly recommend it, it really rocks!)

My first programmation book was the K&R book. I hated reading it and was pretty sure that was nothing I would ever understand (or use). 25 years later, I now understand all the details of the book. And now I hate ... the C language itse

I remap CapsLock+hjkl as the arrows. And CapsLock+Space as Return. But of course I want them to be right at my fingertips. Not on an external "far away" device.

A message from the (now defunct) XML community: We've gotten to a point where a human-readable, human-editable text format for structured data has become a complex nightmare where somebody can safely say "As many threads on xml-d

Teach Javascript. It drives all web pages, is the right place to learn (the tools to deal with) asynchronicity, can be the foundation for crazy functional stuff (cf https://www.gitbook.com/book/drboolean/mostly-ad

As far as I understand, this is the way RDF works. I use N3.js and it basically does that. Is it a need that usually appears when you send JSON between server and client?

Just a question. How does JSON and JSONSchema deal with graph structure? For example, what happens when your data structure in memory is A->B->C->A. And you want to serialize/deserialize such a data structure. (as far as i und

I second that. Things began to get much funnier when I started learning additional languages beyond the first one (:Java, that I still like very much).

So you get a safe refactor feature for free. So you don't get afraid of refactoring. So you do refactor. So you get used to that exercise. And eventually you refactor in your head before typing. Plus you get types hints for free, and s

The most important is to learn object composition & strong type systems. So I would say Java 8 (in an IDE, of course).
