I consume a LOT of comics on bittorrent, read them then buy expensive physical editions of the ones i like. That is VERY bad for my wallet (:i consume comics a lot), but it is always a sure shot when going to the comics store. I consider t

Safari does open Amazon.com in HTTPS. But 256MB of RAM is really small for proper browsing. Anyway, apart from the browser, comics reading, TuneInRadio, old games and digital photoframe apps still work ok. (in case you have the strange idea

The question is whether most middle-managers are able to take impactful decisions. My personal experience is that 80% of them are [Steve Jobs quote:] « bozos ».

I personally say no to my boss 70% of the time, and do things my own way. Usually my n+2 likes the results I deliver, so I am reasonably covered by him, politically. [that will probably not last long, anyway]

To anyone using Google Sheets as its data layer: be sure never to create a primaryKey column, always use the title column. Also be sure to use one single spreadsheet with many tabs, and coreference cells by their sheet/line/column

Off-topic, but I still don’t understand why Apple Pay cannot display on the screen the sum currently to be paid before I validate the transaction. I suppose it is not a UX issue, but I suppose that sum is simply not known by the Apple devic

The reason why USV did not use the proper ASCII codes for field separator and record separator is a bit too pragmatic for me… https://github.com/SixArm/usv/tree/main/doc/faq#why-use-cont...

A manager: I wish I could have a CSV inside my CSV. Any sane person: NO!

I still don’t understand how you deal with cardinalities in a CSV. You always recreate an object model on top of it to deal with them properly ? Cf a tweet I wrote in one of my past lives: https://x.com/datao/status

Don’t look at the ASCII table, at entries 28 to 31. You are not mentally ready for what you will find there.

The best thing I see really often is people sending the data model of a CSV file as, #guessWhat, ANOTHER CSV file!!! [please kill me!]

As a data architect in a big company, I cannot tell how harmful such a stupid data format CSV can be. All the possible semantics of the data has to be offloaded to either the brain of people [don’t do that! Just don’t!] or out-of-sync specs

My experience is a bit different. I use Chameleon+xmldict to generate dozen of different JSON formats, my input being a XML template plus Chameleon templating instructions. And I have found that JSON can be 100% percent expressed from XML.

JSON can be translated into a structure of arrays, maps and primitive types. It can be traversed with functional programming. That matches 100% the skillset/mindset of developpers. Whereas XML has too many quirks and tricks, that it re

I have never understood why RDF (especially TTL) has never become the format of choice for data exchange. XML and JSON are usually sending connected data (:graphs), and there are very inconvenient at doing that (being tree-structured).

FYI, RDF transports graph data, where nodes MUST have a unique ID, where relationships MUST be typed, and nodes can optionally be typed. RDF has several serializtion format, one of them being XML. A binary format also exist. And the most c
