I'm sceptical of this story. This is a huge market and it was a huge market 20 years ago. I participated in studies with prototype devices to measure blood glucose and nobody I talked to mentioned patent blocks.

Not to detract from the entirely justified criticism, but in case it helps somebody: The "Snapshot" feature in Darktable can be used to compare two renderings. It is a bit clumsy but this can be used to compare output of two algos

Thanks for explaining the situation above Grozny. That sounds plausible to me that the route over open water appeared least risky. Once the Russian airports declined an emergency landing.

For context: Baku to Grozny is 500 km along the coast. Grozny to Aktau is 450 km over the Caspian Sea. That the crippled plane was diverted to Aktau in the hope it would vanish into the sea weighs heavy in the article. I wonder what the rea

Ok I'll expand: The delusion was that people held the mistaken belief that their windshield was not pitted the day before they checked. They said: "The pitting happened overnight." Where they should have said: "I don

Don't be splitting hairs. The delusion is that the pitting happened recently and wasn't there before.

Hilarious! The text generator is primed to remark on the subject's economic status. Because that sounds greasy when it analyzes your children. A snow leopard must have a rad lifestyle too.

Sounds horrible having to live through that. Out of curiosity, because I assume you've discussed these questions: If she refused treatment except for opiates, would that allow her to die faster?

What kind of alternate reality would that be? The people heading these companies are good at rationalizing why they are not evil. Don't play their game. The interesting question to me is where murder is justified in your ethics. You ca

Sure when the fire expands into other rooms the battery storage may go off too. By that time I hope I'm upwind of the whole debacle. Many "general" fires do not go beyond one room though.

I can't relate to per-year risk percentage numbers. But the inverse is quite illustrative I find. Here is the expected time between events for each category according to the paper: General house fire: 360 years ICE fire: 1100 years EV

I kind of regret not having started shooting raw earlier. Sometimes I want to print an old shot and my options are very limited by the profile applied by the camera. But back in the time, I tried raw, and it was too much hassle. Maybe now t

Thanks for including a video. The original article fails to even add a picture of the thing. I'm most sceptical of the storm rating of this rig. Putting large rotating sheets on city roofs seems like a hazard nobody would want to take

Yes it was uncommon for me too. Our teacher in electronics back then did give us a multiple choice test because we asked so persistently. He wanted proof for why the option was chosen though. I thought he was just taking the piss but for on

I'm not clear why a laser is any worse at attacking low flying drones compared to the existing defense options. Of course the laser head will need to stick out. Compared to a battery of rockets it will be easier to shield though. And e

I participated in studies where they administered insulin and glucose intravenously. It is wild how they can reliably drop my blood sugar from high to low within a few minutes. Subcutaneously this takes me hours to do in a stable way.

This thread weirds me out because not paying a domain has the effect of first receiving alerts and then not receiving mails anymore. People who manage to miss both probably didn't need the address in the first place.
