I'm so used to be left out of television show discussions that I couldn't imagine pretending. I'm ok not getting invited for brunch if that means I don't have to meet people that have expectations about the books I read.

What can they offer that 5G doesn't in an urban environment? You can get 100 mbps on a 5 w energy budget in a city.

I would assume you get a lot of shit protocol when an inmate kills themselves on your watch. Why would the guards be interested in that?

I use Gnucash to do the accounting of two small communities. It does the basics and some reporting for me. I don't need more. It's been around for a while and that gives me trust that it will stay maintained and I won't have

Trademark law is set up so that people do get a Mcdonalds burger when it says Mcdonalds on the package. Similarly, people expect to get the Rust compiler when the "rustc" package says "Rust systems programming language".

This article does not say why the law was changed. The linked article at the bottom explains the tradeoff: The chases are dangerous. https://www.nwnewsnetwork.org/2022-05-26/see-ya-washington-p...

It's an example of how the patent system will present legal hurdles to inventors. Not just opportunities.

Would it interfere with Starlink's transmissions? Or would it interfere with the monopoly position of Starlink? Hard to tell apart from afar.

Interesting! The study says that incidence of myocarditis did not increase post infection. I'd assumed that because with some vaccines we see a higher incidence of myocarditis, we'd see a similar effect for infections. Now that me

It's really hard for me to accept that using such dark patterns makes economic sense. Because just hearing about it puts Amazon at the bottom of the list when I'm looking for a vendor. But apparently it works well enough for them.

As a curiosity, this is fine. Already now kids videos on Youtube is a swamp of poorly generated animations with empty stories. So they're just adding to the noise floor.

The original comment suggested to use CO2 captured from air for the storage facilities. Yet takes more energy to remove CO2 from the atmosphere than to remove it from exhaust. We'd be burning coal to extract CO2 from the air!

Capturing co2 from air is a waste of energy as long as there are chimneys discharging the stuff by the ton.

Oh but the hubs stations in Switzerland do feature synchronized arrivals and departures on a 30 min schedule. It works so well you don't generally have to look up connections. Just be there at the sync time to board wherever. This is a
