Expanding to dev, and not actually having people available on-call to deal with emergencies seems like an implementation problem. The basic setup has worked well for me at several companies with many large teams on-call.

If you automate it all it’s fine. The automation has no problem waiting around for traffic to drain out of something before decommissioning it.

You don't need the same permissions in prod and dev. And in both cases, the humans don't need direct access to the raw CSP API. Use a local proxy that adds more safety checks. In dev, sure, delete away. In prod, check a bunch of

This applies to all infra. Why can you delete a network load balancer that is still getting traffic? Why can you delete a VM that is getting non-trivial network traffic? Why can you delete a database that has sessions / requests in the

And this is modern, post-gingrich gerrymandering. Before that both sides worked together (mostly) to produce very safe districts. People keep saying “they have been doing this forever “, but not like this.

The question is not how will they ban it, they just pass a law. The question is how and when will they enforce it. When they get access to your devices for some other reason, they will see it. It will give them another easy to prosecute l

A better comparison would be that if a car company can’t meet preexisting crash/safety standards, they need to shut down. These are pretty clear laws established by a democratic government with a pretty good record for rule of law.
