Maybe check out Zepto. It aims to have the same API as jQuery without all the debt of supporting older browsers. I still prefer to use jQuery over vanilla JS, but often I'm building apps that'll only be used on evergreen browsers,

I could do it if there was reasonable limits on the viewport size of IE browsers. For instance, if the IE6 window will always be at least 1024px wide. Once you need to give IE6 responsiveness, the only way I could imagine doing it would rel

Watching his solution was the most painful part. His solution is to remove functions and put everything inline, and adding comments in the place of function names. To me, this sounds like a testing nightmare. It also sounds like a readabili

Do people really use PEer as an actual term? I thought the term progressive enhancement was something used by technically minded folks to convey a concept. Never in a million years would I see it turned into a political term used for stupid

Absolutely. If I currently have a job (probably the people you want), the most companies I actively interview for at any given time is ~4, give or take. Any more takes way too much time and is difficult to prep for. I simply can't wast

Anecdotal, I know, but I work for one of these companies. Definitely not a pipe dream for us. Most new projects are still in Ruby, but Elixir is now supported company-wide, and there's a number of projects being built in Elixir.

Probably depends on the state you're in, but here in Ohio we have COSE that provides a number of benefits for small businesses, one of which is programs for insurance.

You say you've been doing front end development for 25 years, and also that front end frameworks have a shelf life of 3 years, but of those 25 years, how many were spent working with front end frameworks? At most I'd guess 10 year

If you went with Backbone.js (or similar) you would have been better off than the standard bag of jQuery methods. Curious what you ended up going with back then? Most projects I start these days tend to use React. I've looked into Vue,
