The most interesting thing about this to me was the bit at the end about Windows and Games. I've heard of Windows emulation on Mac before but this is the first time I've heard of Parallels. > Now you can download Steam and basi

Here's an open source alternative (actually a huge improvement to how most people do frontend tests) I put together a while back: https://github.com/testfront-io/testfront-devtools (See also https://www

It's amazing to me that there are still people out there who don't use adblockers in 2020. The web is unbelievably painful to browse without an adblocker. I've also gotten into the habit of using uBlock Origin to kill all of

Thanks for the very helpful feedback. Last time I used Fastmail, I had to manually setup the aliases in advance, before they could receive mail. It also isn't possible to send from aliases on Fastmail. I find Fastmail's UI/UX

Looks good! Does the interface organize mail by mailbox? Can you also easily send email from any mailbox? And is there blocking/accepting from specific senders? In TricepMail, messages to e.g. hn@loh.tricepmail.com versus ignore@loh.tr

Would it be frowned upon if I use this thread as an excuse to shamelessly advertise TricepMail.com? It's a better approach to catch all email that I've been working on. MVP released last month with polish and feature additions (bu

What new laws in Australia are you referring to? I did a quick search and I saw a lot about anti-spam laws (which is great), but how does that affect switching your own domain to fastmail?

I'm personally not a fan of notification spam either, but I would assume that notifications via mobile browsers would be opt-in. Is that a bad assumption?

I love (well, kinda...) that we're going to have to start asking this question on a much more regular basis. What will be really interesting is when it is actually a GPT-3 bot but no one has any clue, conversing with it like it were an

Congrats on launching Reflect. Looks solid! I soft launched something eerily similar ~6 months ago and got zero feedback (probably because no one was able to actually try it since Google took forever to approve the extension). TestFront.io:

This is exactly the type of response that keeps me reading HN daily. I love it. Apologies for the unsubstantive comment of my own here. I felt like an upvote wasn't enough to show my appreciation.

Marketing goes a long way. It makes me wonder how many products/services are out there which are actually much better than the well-marketed ones, but we just don't hear about them because they don't have the same level of ma

Good advice here. 3RM in my opinion is even pushing it and not something you want to do often. 5RM is probably more ideal to do on a semi-regular basis. Form is critical too, so with every single lift that you do, make sure you're usin

Life is definitely fleeting, but we (or most of us) have to work in order to live. The key is finding work to do which doesn't feel like work, but the difficult part to this (for many people but not all) is making enough of an income t

I agree with the author for the most part. An exception to this rule is that in terms of front-end (or end-to-end) testing, if an application is deterministic, you most certainly don't need to write any code to create tests for it. You

From my experience, this is not the case, not for a long time now, at least. With proper architecture, all you need is plain React (no frameworks) with `styled-components` for everything - i.e., server rendering, client rendering, and hydra

When I see a company conducting these kinds of tests during interviews, it's a signal to me that they are probably not a very forward-thinking company, and probably not a good fit for someone like me who tends to think outside the box.

I've been using Brave for a while, maybe a couple of years. Its default ad blocking doesn't work 100% of the time, so I've installed uBlock Origin. I don't use the BAT functionality at all, but I think one of the main ad
