A few years ago I sold everything I owned and moved on to a sailboat. I was frustrated with my prior job and knew I was going to leave no matter what. I fretted about what to do for a while but finally decided to give sailing a try - becaus

At least there's an option. Sure there's a problem but at least there's some level of ability to rectify. PDfs of my work show up on pirate sites who make money from ads all the time and I have little to no ability whatsoever

When newspapers and nightly news were the main purveyors of news content should they have been forced to allow anyone with an opinion to air it publicly? I don't think so and I'm not sure I see much difference here. Those who were

Oh and just wait until you get to the sleazy methodology for charging those rates. Childbirth for instance, the room will be billed to the Mother for the days before the birth. So the Mother probably meets their deductible, then as soon as

A bit off topic but out of curiosity how does this playout? Was there a period of time (in recent history) where Saudi scholars were seen as preeminent in Muslim thought and now they aren't? What kind of impact does that scholarship ha

I think that, like most stats now, it's inflated by the bullhorn of the internet. Basically it probably happened but the world at large didn't have the ability to hear about it. Sort of like crime rates, even though they are lower

Yeah I feel like this point needs to be more upfront in the climate change debate. Working to prevent climate change is an inherently selfish endeavor and humanity is generally pretty open to hopping on the selfishness bandwagon. Even for s

As someone who is about to be tasked with building this sort of infrastructure for a hospital system what would be your dream architecture? I hate IT hurdles and I am hoping I can avoid building them into our infrastructure.
