A little bit of backstory here: http://www.slashfilm.com/tron-next-day-flynn-lives-revealed/ Last year, before Tron Legacy was released, Disney shot some footage that didn’t appear in the film, but will show up on the DVD release

I'm afraid I can't get behind this idea. First, we've had excellent "Ask HN" submissions in the past which tried to discuss private startup-specific problems that a partner or founder was having. These discussions were timely and relevant,

This plays into RiderOfGiraffes' experiment with leaving comments that tied together related (or identical) discussions, which I was rather sad to see him discontinue (especially in cases where two threads were discussing different aspects

A homogeneous environment that doesn't have formal package management is the only use case I can envision. It was a good idea back in the SunOS days (and it's probably still workable to a limited extent for the BSDs, and perhaps folks like

Your experience does not mirror my own, I'm afraid. The failure mode of not separating out /var from the rest of the system is interesting; spool, cache, lib, and log can be particularly problematic, depending on the purpose of your system.

The Apache lists, for as long as I can remember, used +1/-1/-0/+0/etc. as a means of informally expressing approval, as well as explicitly registering a vote from committers. http://httpd.apache.org/dev/voting.html That was the first plac

Similar problem (tons of "color" apps), but Apple managed to rank them highly in results when I looked. I assume they key off of selection criteria from the users (ie. most users installed X after searching for Y, so rank X higher for Y), b

Yes, but I'm an outlier: I'm a Linux desktop user. (Moonlight has proven to be only moderately passable in my testing, and even then, only in those cases where DRM wasn't a requirement.) But speaking more generally: when I'm at the keyboard

I just received my termination email. I believe I have a whopping $4 owed to me at this point, so I'm not upset about losing a large amount of revenue; I just have a difficult time understanding the rationale here. I'm an affiliate: I direc
