React Native is still used widely at Facebook. It's never been abandoned. They abandoned HTML5, which is entirely different.

It's because it's terse with quite a low amount of mnemonics (a meaningful feature is only 1-2 characters, there's no padding for a spacial understanding of hierarchies, etc.., compared to your host language), and even though

I've spoken to an H1B lawyer about this, You can actually monetize your online work, just as long as the freelance company is not American. You can start up a limited company in your home country and get paid into a bank account there.
