A) don’t be rude please. B) yes. I get how it works. It’s not too advanced for me. It’s too clever. There’s a difference. In my experience something more readable and verbose would do in nearly every case I’ve ever seen someone try to use

Every now and again one of these come up in a PR and I hard reject it every time. Its clever. Its neat. Its elegant. And it takes a giant ass white paper to explain it to people. Please please please don't use stuff like this when othe

Been in a band of one kind of another for over 30 years at this point. Bands are a pain in the ass. I also am not happy unless I’m in one. There’s something magical that happens when the different tastes and personalities mix. It’s thrillin

I'm a heavy use of this feature so I'm pissed. Can anyone recommend alternatives? I need to be able to load any books I buy into Calibre so I can convert to whatever format I need.

I'm almost 50 and doing fine. Maybe that wouldn't be the case if I was less experienced though.

Reminder to everyone reading FUD like this that tech bro's are trying _very_ hard to convince everyone that these technologies are Fundamentally Disruptive and The Most Important Advancement Since The Steam Engine. When in fact they ar

This kind of thing makes me furious. I know there’s the EFF but what can someone concerned with privacy advocacy do in the face of these kinds of things? Are there orgs and political movements that are out there already? Privacy is a human

Well said. Something that occurred to me after writing the parent comment is that this is also an act of protest. Really the only one at my disposal. By depriving these news outlets of my eyeballs I am no longer participating in the incenti

I appreciate the sentiment but this is totally unrealistic. I've tried to use AI several times before to help me quickly build out some personal software side projects and it took me waaaaay longer every time. It would just confidently

After November I totally stopped looking at any and all news and social media with the exception of HN. My reasoning being that you are not actually getting informed by any of those sources. They are geared towards engagement which makes th

I'm having a hard time figuring out if you're saying that like it's a good thing. The tech will definitely get rolled out. It will cause real harm and cost real money because of that lack of regulation you speak of. I am cert

> It doesn't have to be deterministic There are cases where this could be true. I could see, say, asking it to do some research for you or something. Or maybe grab some restaurant recommendations. Really anything that brings you opt

I think the failure of Amazon Alexa is a better reference point here. The goal with that device was to buy stuff through it. No one did because no one trusted it to do the right thing. We just ask it to tell us the weather or play a song.

Again. Different animal. That’s highly regulated and in limited markets. You also need to pay close attention so you can grab the wheel when it gets things wrong. And it does. A lot. The underlying tech is not the same either.

I think that’s a fair point although I think this is a very different animal. When it comes to money, or really any kind of action that has consequences, you want the assurance of a deterministic outcome. That is simply not possible with th

Total click bait title. The entire premise is based on the assumption that these agents will actually do the correct task every time. No one. And I mean NO ONE is going to delegate anything like travel or purchasing items to an AI. They jus

A few jobs back I got “promoted” (honestly I didn’t want it but I digress) to an EM. First thing I did was ditch Jira for GH issues. I was hailed as a hero for it. Unfortunately it ended up being a disaster and we had to switch back a year

If the website is made in this framework I have low hopes for it. Animations are jank. Clicking on links and buttons takes two or three tries before it does the thing. I’m on mobile safari. Maybe just me?
