It's the "trivial to build" thing I have issues with - especially for the HTTP server. Not runtime vs third party.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but writing your own HTTP server ("trivial to build"?) to avoid bugs in other implementations doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

A pyenv is separating system and user / project packages. You could take it one step further and use pkgsrc, Nix, or homebrew. That way you can get a newer redis/RabbitMQ/whatever not just newer python.

Agreed. Joining system and user packages leads to cases like "how did my python upgrade break yum".

With the 1:1 intended correspondence of (public?) class names to source file names I get how that could be considered a feature for ease of use, compared to C++ where any file could define any name.

Oh that's nice. When I last looked (quite a long time ago), local::lib seemed to be the recommended way, and that seemed a bit more fiddly than python's virtualenv.

Wasn't node the only programming language that used a subdirectory for deps by default? Ruby and Perl certainly didn't have it - although Ruby did subsequently add Bundler to gems and gems supported multiversioning.

Good for them. Here we hear a lot about Chinese, Israeli, or NK hackers but not often Indian ones.

Sounds interesting. I once had a similar idea to trace / debug firewall rules but wanted to use Usermode Linux for full control of in/out packets.

From the linked article : "How to Design Programs is the first text book on programming that explicitly spells out how to construct programs in a systematic manner."

There's always going to be a namespace soup but at least in Java there's only one kind of thing in the soup.

You could cache the intermediate bits. Hell you could do this right now (somewhat) by doing script src=menubar.js and the script containing document.write calls. Not great for performance.

But running such a series hybrid with minimal charge of the batteries means almost all power is from the engine. And if that is undersized that won't end well.
