Poverty rates have actually increased since the introduction of welfare and welfare reform in the US. Long term stability of your proposal aside (see the jump in Disability dependencies that followed the welfare reform), it doesn't ma

Out of the literally hundreds of thousands of other games, those are just outliers. Even if you named another 200 of them, they would not be statistically significant to the whole list.

As mentioned, this can be done with Chef, Puppet, and Salt, but be careful about how you go about it. It is important to recognize when it is best to leverage AD for your Windows configs. It is easy to fall down the rabbit hole of trying t

rbenv is a great way to get whatever version of ruby you want up and going fast. Install a couple dependencies, clone the git repo, and run the install.sh. I went from never using it to running on CentOS 6 in a half hour.

Curious, what is the term for a new business that looks to establish steady long-term profitability instead of the grow and cashout model? Knowing would make googling for the profit focused version of HN much easier.

A lot of it probably stems from the use cases. Most Linux distros have the "out of the box" use case down. When people start to fiddle with it or push the limits, they increasingly change their tone. Nothing fanatical about it. Just diff

When I was in school for a B.S., I settled on accounting for this very reason. There was already talk about massive outsourcing of IT and tech jobs in the late 90's. I was already working in the tech field before I graduated so experience

I think you have a valid point, but my experience is that it is not nearly as rosy a picture for men. Most women I came across while dating in my early thirties were not open to the idea of a 5+ year difference. Many women in their mid-twe

Those extra kilowatts can be sold to other areas. That is exactly what is happening in most instances. You can't sell the left over bandwidth of an infrastructure you provide to a consumer.

Just curious, but why bother fighting a privacy act if you think that the government could not be overthrown in revolution? If the government wants it, they will take it since nothing can stop them.

I guess if I had to restate my point it would be this: We can't determine the equality or value of the Bill of Rights liberties because they are interdependent and it many cases an "apples and oranges" comparison. You can only derive their

The reason why you don't see people try to quarter troops is because of the 3rd amendment. You can't say it doesn't apply to today's society. The reason why today's society adapted to its current form is because it was agreed that it was

So because the Democrats didn't have total control on Congress, they aren't responsible for the failures to drive issues forward? They had a majority. They should step up and take ownership for their part. I remember when we expected stat

Maybe you didn't mean to use that example, but I think your point is kind of defeated if you say when women are simply being conservative or cautious and append that to a very non-cautious act. Getting sloshed is not the cautious way to go

The CrimsonCap distro has supported side-by-side Python2 and Python3 for awhile now. There is already a process underway to get the larger components migrated to Python3. Sure the process isn't 100% complete, but it is hardly 10 years behi

The blockchain is simply a tool. A bank ledger is not actively trying to scam you out of your money either. It is the people involved that do so. There has been plenty of shady dealings around Bitcoin already.
