Before anyone gets in a stress, this is obviously some low life engagement bait troll. It might even be totally automated. It saw the word "pregnant" and decided to start on some diatribe about it without even reading the content

I've had this experience a few times so I don't post submissions anymore either (including one of my own articles being flagged despite over a hundred comments). I know people will say vote rigging doesn't happen on HN, but I

Only two types of tree? Even in the 1970's surely that should have been cause for concern.

Does this count as news now on HN?

I've been told that it was once common in the UK to be able to send an early morning letter and have a reply in your letter box by afternoon. Now, I have Post Office workers graffitiing envelopes and changing the type of postage I just

Thanks for the write up. This makes me consider Gitea again. That sounds like a frustrating and absurd situation.

When I adopted Foregjo I did so because I didn't like the sound of some political arguments across threads about some alleged security issues Foregjo raised with Gitea who allegedly ignored them. What keeps you using Gitea? I'm wo

I also have a self hosted Foregejo on a Pi (but probably not much longer) that acts as a mirror of my GitHub. The main issues I keep facing are: - Repositories seem to mirror fine for a few weeks and stop. Pretty useless. I have a PAT token

Did he at least get the book back? The one time I ever let anyone borrow my books, was a HTML 4 book, and I got it back in such a poor state I never did again.

This is really cool. My site is hosted by cloudflare, so I guess I could do the same with a cloudflare worker... maybe?

What other postgresql backup solutions does HN recommend?

I had the same experience in the UK around 2005 to 2011, I wonder if it's the same everywhere? I feel that my experience was far worse and bordering on the absurd and bureaucratic. We spent years following instructions, taking screensh

You can tell security has become complete theatre when people are registering domains and setting up a whole fucking website for individual ones.

I've often wondered why no one has built an issue tracker with Git notes, or if one exists, why it's not widespread.

Is the intention that you "fork" the PCB design and use it as a base/template for you own schematics/PCB design, or something else?

It's also the first time I've heard of cheese made of Horse milk which feels like the absurd sort of thing you'd get if you kept prompting AI to "find the rarest types of cheese".

My problem with it was that it looked truly disgusting and I don’t say that lightly. They had essentially cloned the Reddit “new” theme that has the all too common obnoxious overuse of white space over content.

I’ve absolutely seen adverts on TV in the UK by Microsoft advertising Microsoft Cloud. Azure was not mentioned anywhere…

It would have been less controversial to place an ad somewhere at the top of the screen. Putting it in the Markdown feels like a very deliberate and antagonistic fuck you to everyone.
